Introduction - Ms. Tâm

L'Occitane has a very cool ad on TV about the environment. They tell everyone to
bring old bottles to their shops to get new stuff. This campaign is called "Big Little
Things" and it just started recently. I think the pictures are pretty and the music is nice.
This ad is important because it helps the company sell more makeup and protects the
earth a little bit.
=> One of my favorite advertisements, which is the “Big Little Things” campaign by
L'Occitane. In this campaign, the company encourages customers to bring old bottles
back to stores for recycling and reuse. Moreover, with warm golden backgrounds and
soft music, the advertisement creates a peaceful feeling and highlights the importance
of protecting the environment.

Body 1 - Ms. Hiền

The first part of the commercial introduces L’Occitane’s “Big Little Things” recycling
program inside a cosmetic store. The shop looks modern and welcoming with warm
lighting, wooden shelves, and many skincare products on display. Some green plants
also make the space feel more natural and eco-friendly. The camera glides slowly
across wooden counters, cream-colored walls, and neatly arranged skincare products,
creating a sense of harmony and refinement. Unlike many advertisements that rely on
fast editing and loud visuals, this commercial embraces stillness and simplicity. One
noticeable scene shows shampoo being poured into a bottle at a refill station,
highlighting the brand’s focus on sustainability and reducing plastic waste.

Body 2 - Mr. Minh

Now we will move to the part that suggest viewers how to recycle their beauty
empties. This is one of my favorite parts in the video. What do you think if you have
motivation to do things right after hearing a suggestion from an advertisement because
its perfect images and sound effects? The second part of the advertisement focuses on
cleaning beauty empties before recycling them. At this part, you will hear a happy and
peaceful soundtrack and see great clarity images that show you how to clean your
empties. The author was in a shiny room with modern and glamorous cosmetics
decorations. She was showing to the viewers by cleaning a bottle that have the name
L'Occitane, using a toothbrush to clean her aluminum tube, rinsing her perfume bottle
and pouring boiling water into her candle jar. I am sure you will be excited because
her sweet lovely voice and a realistic sound of pouring water in that stunning place are
really fascinating even to the point where you can feel like you are in the middle of
peaceful and majestic mountains in Switzerland. Those perfect things from this
advertisement will push you to follow her tips to recycle your stuff from your
cosmetics place in your room immediately.

Body 3 - Ms. Fa
The brilliance of this advertisement was its flawless use of metaphorical storytelling.
The stated purpose of the campaign was to demonstrate the sustainability message.
However, rather than bombarding the audience with hollow words of any eco-friendly
product commitment, The brilliance of the campaign lies not in hollow slogans, but in
its excellent use of visual storytelling to convey sustainability. It begins with a striking
flat-lay of the brand’s iconic bottle arranged with a bold, sunlit yellow background – a
colour that evokes warmth, optimism, and the brand’s iconic golden landscape of
Provence. Then, the camera shifts to a pair of hands gently pouring liquid from one
bottle into another beneath an open sky, effectively translating the message of a
continuous, unbroken cycle of renewable rather than waste. The final visual brings
viewers inside the L'Occitane store, which strengthens the idea that sustainability is
not a sacrifice but an elevated experience. Accompanying these images is soft music
and an unhurried narrator that mirrors the brand’s tone: neither urgent nor preachy, but
calm and assured. It looks, as though protecting the planet is just the natural way of
doing things. Together, these visual and auditory choices build a coherent world in
which beauty is inseparable from responsibility, a world that L'Occitane invites every
customer to be part of.
Conclusion - Ms. Duyên
In conclusion, L’Occitane’s “Big Little Things” advertisement is not only visually
beautiful but also meaningful and inspiring. Through elegant images, relaxing music,
and creative storytelling, the campaign successfully encourages people to recycle their
cosmetic empties and care more about the environment. The advertisement creates a
peaceful and luxurious atmosphere that makes sustainability feel simple and attractive.
Overall, this campaign proves that advertising can both promote a brand and spread
positive messages about protecting the planet.

6/ REVIEWING:
6.1. Ms. Tâm - The Connector
- Body 1
● The paragraph is linked smoothly through descriptive transitions such as
“Unlike many advertisements…”

- Body 2
● The paragraph follows a logical order by describing the soundtrack first, then
the visuals, and finally the emotional impact on viewers.
● Some transitions are slightly abrupt, especially when moving from cleaning
actions to emotional reactions.

- Body 3
● Strong use of connectors such as “Then” and “Together.”

- Conclusion
● “In conclusion” clearly signals the ending.
● The conclusion connects well with the introduction by repeating the ideas of
sustainability and elegant visuals.

6.2 Ms. Hiền + Mr. Minh - The content editor

- Introduction
● In the first draft, the introduction used very simple and informal ideas such as:
“very cool ad,” “pretty pictures,” and “sell more makeup.”
● These ideas were relevant but not academic or descriptive enough.
● After revision, the introduction became more focused on sustainability and
atmosphere through phrases like:
“warm golden backgrounds,” “soft music,” and “peaceful feeling.”
● The revised version sounds more sophisticated and clearly introduces the
environmental message of the campaign.

- Body 1

● In the original version, Body 1 mainly listed objects inside the store, such as:
“warm lighting,” “wooden shelves,” and “many skincare products.”
● Although these details were relevant, the paragraph lacked flow and cinematic
description.
● After revision, the paragraph became more vivid through phrases like:
“The camera glides slowly across wooden counters…”
● The revised version also introduced contrast:
“Unlike many advertisements…”
which made the paragraph more analytical and descriptive rather than simply
informative.
● The refill station scene was also developed more clearly to support the
sustainability theme.

- Body 2
● In the original version, Body 2 mainly described personal feelings and direct
opinions, for example:
“I am sure you will be excited…”
● Some details were unclear or repetitive, and the paragraph sounded too
conversational.
● After revision, the paragraph became more descriptive by focusing on:
○ the soundtrack,
○ the cleaning process,
○ the visuals,
○ and the relaxing atmosphere.
● The revised version also added clearer imagery such as:
“a shiny room with modern and glamorous cosmetics decorations.”
● Overall, the ideas became more organized and visually engaging.
- Body 3
● In the first draft, the paragraph focused generally on sustainability but lacked
depth and detailed analysis. Some lines were too direct, such as:
“eco-friendly product commitment.”
● After revision, the paragraph developed the ideas more effectively through
visual storytelling and symbolism.
● New details such as:
“a bold, sunlit yellow background” and “a continuous, unbroken cycle”
made the analysis more sophisticated and meaningful.
● The revised paragraph better explains how the advertisement conveys
sustainability through imagery rather than simple slogans.

- Conclusion
● The original conclusion already summarized the advertisement clearly, but it
was slightly simple and repetitive.
● After revision, the conclusion became more polished and academic.
● It successfully reinforced the ideas of:
○ elegant visuals,
○ relaxing music,
○ creative storytelling,
○ and environmental responsibility.

6.3. Ms. Fa -The Grammar Police

- Introduction
● The first draft contained a sentence fragment:
“One of my favorite advertisements, which is…”
● The corrected version should be:
“One of my favorite advertisements is…”

- Body 2
● Several grammar mistakes appeared in the first version:
○ “At this part” → “In this part”
○ “a bottle that have the name” → “a bottle that has the name”
○ “She was showing to the viewers” → “She was showing viewers”
6.4. Ms. Duyên - The Vocabulary Checker

- Introduction
● Informal expressions such as “very cool ad” were replaced with more academic
phrases.

- Body 1
● Strong descriptive vocabulary is used:
○ “wooden counters”
○ “cream-colored walls”
○ “harmony and refinement”

- Body 2
● Sensory vocabulary such as “peaceful soundtrack” and “realistic sound”
strengthens the descriptive style.
● Some expressions still sound unnatural:
○ “great clarity images”
○ “Those perfect things”
● These could be replaced with more academic wording.

- Body 3
● Advanced vocabulary is used effectively:
○ “visual storytelling”
○ “continuous cycle”
○ “environmental responsibility”
● The vocabulary in this paragraph is the most sophisticated in the essay.
