The Story:
The assembly initially starts with ISRO giving a countdown and
launching the spaceship with the astronaut. All salute to the
spaceship with the astronaut and then the spaceship leaves.
Flashback-I:
The Hero’s (age around 16) story with his dream. Elections, his
contribution to the students of 9, 10, 11 and 12. Lot of inter-murals,
intra-murals and cultural sports events won under him.
Present Continuation:
He is traveling and suddenly the spaceship jams and he falls down
inside the spaceship. He is off and his inner mind comes out to talk
with him. The inner mind tells the continuation of the flashback to
tell him the original competence that he faced in his life.
Flashback Continuation:
Few years after the footballer’s school life, the crisis of his family
emerges and he isn’t able to go into the field of football. He is
depressed and at that time he thinks of seeing a program of his
friends showing their talent and competence in a school program.
He gets motivated and he joins NDA with sports quota with the
feeling of serving (got from the contributions that he did as sports
captain) the people. Here was the moment when the footballer
emerges as the Air Force Officer with his competence. With his
splendid performance, Air force takes him and appoints him as the
highest grade of pilot because of his temperament towards the field.
At that time, in an epic journey to space, he is selected as the special
astronaut to achieve it. And this is connected to the launching by
ISRO at the beginning of the story.
Now the story flows till the present situation of inner mind
telling this second part of the flashback, as that was the pure
competence that he faced in his life. The base was laid at school.
Present Continuation (ENDING):
Inner mind goes back into him and he wakes up, hears the contact
from ISRO, takes the spaceship under control. He does his job in
space and returns to the motherland. The Indian flag is raised and a
medal and badge is presented by the President. (Salute)
SCRIPT:
Scene 1: [ISRO]
ISRO officers(Jyothi): ISRO contacting XIC2024! We are entering
into the final countdown! T-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1 , 2…….. Successful
launch (Claps and appreciation among the ISRO officers)
Astronaut(Jeremiah): Ship XIC2024 to ground control, we have
successful lift-off, no problems detected.
ISRO Officer(Paddu): Alright Capn.! Hang tight till the vehicle
reaches orbit.
(Spaceship travels)
SCENE 2: [SCHOOL]
Placard Reads: (At the age of 16 in DAVPS) (voiced by Nikhil)
Action: (Footballer dribbling football)
Narrator (Sadhana): A young spearhead aspires to be the star of
the Indian football team. All the credit goes to our school and PT
masters who nurtured his talent and facilitated the development of
his skills. Isn’t it amazing for a student to be able to properly
balance both academics as well as sports?
PT sir (Ambar): _______, you possess the potential to achieve
great heights and attain the pinnacle of success. You have the
spirited characteristic of leadership and staying calm even during
intense situations, which is an important trait for a competent
sportsperson.
Footballer(Saravana): Thank you so much sir! I will give my best!
Friend-1(Adithya): Hey, did you hear about the upcoming student
council elections? We can collect the nomination form from the
physics lab at lunch break today. You should give it a shot. I'm
confident that you’ll become a fantastic sports captain.
Footballer(Saravana): Hmm.. yes bro. You’re right. Let me try
standing for it this year.
SCENE 3: [SCHOOL]
(Voting scenes) (Vishal S, Deevesh, Saravana, Nikhil)
(3 candidates including Hero, stand for election, doing some type of
campaigning and on voting day few students drop in the ballot.)
SCENE 4: [SCHOOL]
Placard Reads: (Election Results)
School head (Vishal K): And your sports captain for this year is
Jere! Congratulations!
Footballer(Saravana): Thank you for your support. With this
opportunity I would like to do some good to our school and set a
benchmark for the future. I’m looking forward to learning a lot and
improving myself as a person.
Narrator (Deepshika): In the upcoming year, Jere makes a lot of
positive changes to the sports field and leads his team to victory in
many sports and extracurricular competitions.
SCENE 5: [SCHOOL]
Friend-2(Jayaram): Wow! Bro, people often say “Be the change
that you wish to see in the world”. And today, Jere has emerged as
the leader who inspires every student at school.
Friend-3(Sarang): Yes bro! He has been the person who
consistently excels at multiple important fields. What an “all
rounder”. Just like how Argentina has Messi, Portugal has Ronaldo,
DAV has Jere.
SCENE 6: [SPACE]
(As the protagonist launches back into space, suddenly everything
goes black. He tries to gain contact with ground control, but there is
no response.)
Astronaut(Jeremiah): Ground Control, Do you copy? (Pause) I
repeat, Ground Control, Do you copy? (Pause) Oh no! looks like the
communications have gone.
Narrator(Deepsikha): Our protagonist sits in silence and thinks
about what went wrong, he is drifting all alone in the full yet empty
void of space with a faulty communication system. Suddenly the
spacecraft somersaults and the astronaut clatters to the floor. He
loses his consciousness.
(Inner Mind enters the scene)
IM(Arun): (Facing Hero) Nanba! Deii! Competence ku per pona nee,
ipdi pechu moochu illaama irukkiye da!!! Perhaps you are in need of
some inspiration? Let me try!
SCENE 7: [SCHOOL]
[PLACARD READS: GRADUATION]
Narrator(Pragnya): _____, has become a role model for the
younger generations that follow because of the constructive
changes he had introduced throughout the whole year.
Friend-4 (Kailash)(to Footballer and other friends): All right
guys! Here we go our separate ways to follow our goals. Let’s never
forget the times we had together and what the school has instilled in
us.
SCENE 8:
(Placard Reads: A Few Years Later)
Narrator(Pragnya): The well known quote goes “Conflict builds
character” There will be a point of time in every person’s life when
they are forced to reckon with the crisis at hand and rise to the
occasion. We catch up with Jere in such a scenario.
(Footballer is seen highly depressed.)
Narrator(Tejal): The footballer is faced with a crisis as a result of
which the family is not able to aid in the fulfillment of Jere’s dream.
We find Jere in the midst of a crossroad.
Footballer(Saravana): I never thought my life would turn out like
this. I need to support my family somehow. But footballing is not
possible. Aahhh! Why has God punished me with such a situation? I
have to set my priorities straight. (Hero closes his face with his
palms).
(After a brief pause)
Narrator(Tejal): The most interesting thing about life is that it is
always unpredictable. Will our protagonist succumb to the situation
or can he get his head in the game?
(Dance/talent show)
A sudden voice(Deevesh): “You can't cross the sea merely by
standing ashore and staring at it”
Narrator(Pragnya): The legend awakens from his state of
melancholy and the school memories reignite the flame within him.
Footballer(Saravana): (sigh) I suppose I will have to wrap up my
football era, but it’s never too late to start a new chapter in my life
SCENE 9:
Narrator(Tejal): Jere makes the most out of his football skills. He
trains to be in the Indian Air Force through the sports quota. Then a
few years later, he was deemed the best pilot of his batch. Seeing
his skills, ISRO recruited him and vigorously trained him to become
an astronaut. Eventually, he was appointed to lead a prestigious
space mission.
(when the narrator says this line, the reveal takes place)
Inner mind(Arun): The most competent moment that I faced in life
is when I had to leave behind my passion for football and start a
new chapter as an astronaut. This value of competence was
inculcated by the school in me. Mothathula, Sivaji-yum (showing
Saravana) naan thaan.. MGR-um (showing Jere) naan thaan..
Conclusion(Sadhana): Through this program we have seen how
competence has helped our protagonist, the footballer turned
astronaut, to beat the odds using his presence of mind and decision
making skills. The groundwork for these skills was laid at school. Our
school similarly fosters competence in its students from the
Competency Based Questions in our exams and multiple
assessments, to class assemblies, intramural competitions and
culturals, sports events etc. These are just a few of the countless
ways that our school has acted as a catalyst and strengthened the
characteristic of competence in us.
