What are Core Values?

o Fundamental beliefs that guide attitudes and actions.

Purpose:
To understand and appreciate the core values that
guide Filipino identity and behavior.
Overview of the 4 Core Values

▪ Maka-Diyos ( Godly )
▪ Makatao ( Humane )
▪ Makakalikasan (Environmentally Conscious )
▪ Makabansa ( Nationalistic )

These values from part of the Department of Education’s core


framework for character development.
Maka- Diyos ( Godly )
• Belief in and respect for God
• Practicing faith and prayer
• Living with integrity and honesty
• Respecting religious differences

Examples:
Attending religious services
Being honest in school and work
Respecting other’s faith
Makatao ( Humane )
• Respect for human dignity
• Showing kindness, empathy, and compassion
• Promoting justice and fairness
• Helping those in need

• Example:
Volunteering or helping the poor
Practicing fairness and equality
Avoiding bullying or discrimination
Makakalikasan (
Environmentally Conscious )
• Caring For Environment
• Practicing sustainability
• Conserving natural resources
• Reducing waste and pollution

Examples:
Joining tree- planting activities
Recycling and proper waste disposal
Conserving electricity and water
Makabansa ( Nationalistic )
• Love for the country
• Pride in Filipino heritage and culture
• Obeying laws and promoting peace
• Participating in nation-building

Example:
Singing the national anthem with respect
Celebrating national holidays
Being a responsible citizen
