Study about the computer keyboard and identify the key on the keyboard and what the key
does and functions.

ANSWERS

A computer keyboard is an input device used to text numbers and demands into the computer.
It contains different groups of keys, and each key has a specific function.

[Link] Keys (A-Z)

• These keys are used to type letters. Example; Press A to type letter “a”

[Link] Keys (0-9)

• Used to type numbers


• Located above the alphabet keys and also on the numeric keypad (right side of some
keyboards)

• Located on the top row of the keyboard.


• Used for special commands depending on the program. Example; F1 is used to help
menu, F2 is used to rename a file, F5 is used to refresh a page, and F11 full screen in
browsers.

• These keys are used with other keys to perform commands.


• Ctrl (control)- used with other keys for shortcuts. E.g ctrl + c to copy.
• Alt- used with other keys for special commands
• Shift- used to type capital letters and change the top number keys to a symbol

• Spacebar- creates space between words
• Backspace- deletes the character to the right of the cursor
