To,
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),
Jammu & Kashmir Police,
District Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
Subject: Request for legal intervention regarding harassment, intimidation and
obstruction over our land at Village Manzgam
Respected Sir,
With regards and respects, I respectfully submit that our family owns a piece of land situated
at Village Manzgam, District Kulgam. The said land was purchased by my brother, Mohammad
Abdullah Sheikh, approximately 60 years ago from Abdul Ahad Bhat and Zaiba Begum, who
were brother and sister. Since the purchase, our family has remained in peaceful possession of
the said land.
However, about one month ago, when we were carrying out work related to our house on our
own land, the family of Mohammad Ismail Lone, son of Zaiba Begum, came to the spot
and obstructed us from carrying out the work. During the incident, they threatened,
intimidated, and harassed us and behaved aggressively towards us. The persons present
included his son Azad Ahmed Lone, his wife Fatima, and his daughter Ulfat. Their
conduct created fear and tension and prevented us from carrying out lawful work on our
own property. We are unable to understand why they acted in such a manner,
particularly when the land has remained in our possession for the last 60 years and our
ownership and possession are well known in the locality.
It is pertinent to mention that the legal heirs and children of Abdul Ahad Bhat and Zaiba Begum
have accepted the land transaction and our possession over the property. The land has remained
under our possession for the last 60 years, and the residents of the village are fully aware of
this [Link] the said incident, both I and my daughter were subjected to threats,
intimidation, and harassment, causing us mental distress and fear. Despite our lawful
possession of the land, we were prevented from carrying out work on our own property.
Therefore, I humbly request to kindly inquire into the matter, provide us protection from further
harassment and intimidation, and take legal action against the persons involved so that we may
peacefully live and use our property without any obstruction.
Yours Sincerely ,
Masrat Jan
