notes are prepared in simple language for students and exam preparation.

1. Computer

Definition
A computer is an electronic device that accepts data, processes it according to instructions, stores it,
and produces meaningful information as output.

Working Cycle
A computer works through four basic steps: Input, Processing, Output, and Storage.

Uses of Computer
Computers are used in education, hospitals, banking, business, communication, entertainment,
science, and research.

2. Features of Computer

Speed
Computers can perform millions of calculations within a second.

Accuracy
Computers provide highly accurate results when correct data and instructions are given.

Storage Capacity
Large amounts of information can be stored in a computer.

Diligence
Computers can work continuously without getting tired.
Automation
After receiving instructions, computers can work automatically.

Versatility
A computer can perform many different types of tasks.

3. Types of Computer

According to Size
Super computers are the fastest computers. Mainframe computers are used in banks and industries.
Mini computers are medium-sized systems. Micro computers include desktops and laptops.

According to Purpose
General purpose computers perform many tasks, while special purpose computers are designed for
one specific task.

According to Data Handling

Analog computers process continuous data, digital computers process binary data, and hybrid
computers combine both.

4. Components of Computer System

Hardware
Hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer such as monitor, keyboard, CPU, and mouse.

Software
Software is a set of programs that tells the computer what to do.

Data
Data means raw facts and figures entered into the computer.

User
The person who operates the computer is called a user.
5. CPU (Central Processing Unit)

Definition
The CPU is called the brain of the computer because it controls and processes all activities.

ALU
The Arithmetic Logic Unit performs arithmetic and logical operations.

Control Unit
The Control Unit controls all activities inside the computer.

Memory Unit
The Memory Unit stores instructions and data temporarily.

6. Input Devices
