1) Impact Factor: The impact factor (IF) is a measure of the frequency with which the
average article in a journal has been cited in a particular year. It is used to measure the
importance or rank of a journal by calculating the times it's articles are cited
2) CiteScore : CiteScore measures average citations received per document published in
the serial.
CiteScore = Citations count in Particular Year/Documents Published in Last three years
3) SCImago Journal Rank (SJR): SCImago Journal Rank measures weighted citations
received by the serial. Citation weighting depends on subject field and prestige (SJR) of
the citing serial.
4) Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP): Source Normalized Impact per Paper
measures actual citations received relative to citations expected for the serial’s subject
field.

Why do people plagiarize?
• Ignorance
• Lack of knowledge on the ethics of scholarly writing / poor writing skills
• Pressure from seniors
• Publish or perish system
• Faster Publication
• Chances of getting caught or action being taken is slim
How to Avoid Plagiarism
• For short quotes, use quotation marks in the sentence.
• For longer quotes indent the entire passage
• If you have used a table, chart, diagram etc., cite the source directly
below with a statement that permission has been obtained.
• Even if you change a few words here and there it will be considered as
plagiarism

Penalties in case of plagiarism in submission of thesis and dissertations
Levels of Plagiarism
i. Level 0: Similarities upto 10% - Minor Similarities, no penalty.
ii. Level 1: Similarities above 10% to 40% - Such student shall be asked to submit a revised script within a
stipulated time period not exceeding 6 months.
iii. Level 2: Similarities above 40% to 60% - Such student shall be debarred from submitting a revised script for a
period of one year.
iv. Level 3: Similarities above 60% -Such student registration for that programme shall be cancelled.

iii) Shall not be allowed to be a supervisor to any new Master’s, [Link]., Ph.D. Student/scholar for a period
of two years.
IV. Level 3: Similarities above 60%
i) Shall be asked to withdraw manuscript.
ii) Shall be denied a right to two successive annual increments.
iii) Shall not be allowed to be a supervisor to any new Master’s, [Link]., Ph.D. Student/scholar for a period
of three years.

Ph.D Progress and Process
• Admission in Full Time/Part Time with Registration
• Full Time – Min period is 3 Years and Maximum 8 Years (No fellowship after 3rd Year)
• Part Time --- Min period is 4 Years and Maximum 8 Years (No Fellowship)
• Research Methodology Course Work should attend (Min of 4 days i.e. 30 hrs)
• Pre Ph.D exam should clear (3 Papers, 1-Research Methodology, 2-Research domain)
• Minimum 5 reviews should be given before pre talk
• Tuition fee should pay for each semester till pre talk
• 6 Research paper publications required (2-Indexed in Scopus & WoS, 2-Scopus/WoS & 2 in
Conference proceedings with ISBN Number)
• 6 Copies of Synopsis (Hard copy & Soft Copy), Adjudication Fee and Adjudication List
(In Sealed cover from RPAC through HOD)
• Plagiarism check (Below 10%) is mandatory and after that 3 Copies of Thesis should
submit for evaluation
• Thesis evaluation reports from adjudicators will be submitted to guide for
modifications as per the comments received.
• 5 Copies of final thesis copies should be submitted after suggested modifications and
Soft copy of thesis in Inflibnet format to upload it in UGC Shodhganga.
• Viva will be conducted and award notification will be released by Hon’ble Registrar
with the approval of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor

• Dedicate yourself towards Novel Research and don’t stop learning
• Explore to current technologies and latest tools in your area of research
• Identify societal problems & relate to your research area for possible solutions
• Do Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Research with National and
International Collaborations
• Improve your Research credentials like quality publications, citations, h-index etc
• Be live through research communities like Orcid, Scopus, Web of Science,
Mendeley, Research Gate, Publons, Researcher ID, Microsoft Academic etc..
• Try to apply Funding projects or consultancy projects and get some grant to
establish your own research setup.
• Become reviewer for top notch journals with your research potential
• Maintain your research record up-to-date in your private or public database and
make it visible to research community
