Online learning vs face-to-face learning.
During the last six years after the end of the pandemic, the choice between online learning and
face-to-face learning has become a controversial topic in the educational area. While many
people argue that the first option is a good alternative, others still strongly believe that the
traditional approach is the best option. In the following lines, some points to consider in the
traditional method will be discussed.
To begin with, the classroom has always been a place in which students can easily find every
resource available. Access to libraries and computer labs allows students to enhance their
learning and achieve constant growth. In fact, with this help, learners have significant tools
which encourages them towards doing exercises on their own. For instance, academic materials
and Internet access provide the facility to enrich their knowledge by reading both physical and
online books.
Next in order, in-person education provides learners the opportunity to receive immediate
feedback, such as oral mistakes or phonetic slips. Language misuses are rectified through
instantaneous corrections, enhancing their knowledge. Moreover, being face-to-face with a
teacher leads students to maintain their total concentration in the class. This is largely because
the classroom environment creates a dedicated space for learning, effectively minimizing the
domestic distractions that often affect online education.
Traditional education significantly enhances social interaction. Students are constantly exposed
to their peers, developing essential social skills and learning. For instance, collaborative
activities do not only improve their speaking abilities but also improve the way they
communicate in real-life situations.
On the other hand, online learning gained popularity during the pandemic since it was an
essential tool for students, when they could not access in-person education. It is well-known that
asynchronous classes provide several opportunities for citizens who live in remote areas and
can not access the principal institutions, such as universities or high schools. Although not
everyone shares this view, numerous individuals strongly believe that the lack of interaction can
lead to isolation in a student's life. In fact, this does not only impact mental health but also
debilitates essential skills such as communication, which is vital for their future.
To conclude, despite the fact that online learning has been an excellent tool during the last few
years and continues to be a useful solution in certain situations, it is widely believed that
traditional education is the most successful tool not only for learning but also for building life
skills. Finally, the traditional method relies on human interaction and the spontaneous
communication developed face-to-face simply can not be replicated online.
