MODULE–I: SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN
1.1 INTRODUCTION
AIM:The aim of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is to promote cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene
across India by eliminating open defecation and ensuring proper waste management in rural
and urban areas.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a nationwide cleanliness mission launched by the Government of
India on 2nd October 2014 in honor of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and healthy
India. The mission focuses on improving sanitation facilities, promoting hygienic practices,
and encouraging people to maintain clean surroundings in both rural and urban areas. It
emphasizes mass participation and behavioral change among citizens by involving students,
volunteers, and local communities. The campaign also highlights the importance of proper
waste disposal, cleanliness in public places, and the use of toilets to prevent health hazards
and environmental pollution.
On 16th May 2026, as part of NSS activities, we visited Naganur Lake near Davanagere and
conducted a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan cleanliness drive by collecting waste and spreading
awareness on maintaining clean surroundings.
1.2 SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a national cleanliness campaign initiated by the Government of
India to create a cleaner, healthier, and pollution-free nation. The mission aims to eliminate
open defecation through the construction of toilets and by promoting hygiene awareness. It
encourages people to keep their homes, schools, streets, and public places clean. Proper waste
segregation, recycling, and reduction of plastic usage are important objectives of this
campaign. Clean surroundings help prevent diseases and improve the quality oflife.
The campaign motivates students, teachers, volunteers, and communities to actively
participate in cleanliness drives. It has significantly improved sanitation facilities across the
country and created awareness about cleanliness as a daily habit. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
promotes collective responsibility and reminds citizens that cleanliness is a shared duty. By
supporting this mission, people contribute to environmental protection and national
development. The campaign continues to inspire citizens to maintain cleanliness and adopt
hygienic practices in everyday life.
NSS volunteers actively participated in a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan cleanliness drive at
Naganur Lake near Davanagere.
The cleanliness drive was carried out as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with the objective of
maintaining hygiene around public water bodies. NSS volunteers collected plastic waste and
disposed of it properly to prevent environmental pollution. The activity helped in creating
awareness about cleanliness and the importance of protecting natural resources. Such
initiatives encourage community participation and social responsibility among students.
MODULE-02: FOOD WALK
2.1 : INTRODUCTION:
Food Walk is an awareness activity conducted to observe, understand, and promote healthy food
practices, cleanliness, and social responsibility in food preparation and serving environments. On
16/05/2026, our team visited SS Maggi as part of a Food Walk program to learn about food hygiene,
cleanliness standards, customer safety, and public awareness related to food handling. This activity
provided an opportunity to interact with people and understand the importance of maintaining a clean
and safe food environment in society. During the visit, we observed various aspects related to food
preparation, serving methods, sanitation practices, and maintenance of cleanliness within the
surroundings. We also interacted with staff members and gained knowledge about the importance of
using hygienic ingredients, maintaining clean cooking spaces, and following proper safety measures
while handling food.
2.2 :Awareness Program on Food Walk
The Food Walk created awareness about proper hygiene practices, safe food preparation methods,
waste management, and maintaining cleanliness in food-serving areas. It also highlighted the
responsibility of both food providers and consumers in ensuring healthy eating habits and maintaining
public health standards. Such awareness activities help students understand social responsibilities and
encourage them to contribute toward building a healthier, cleaner, and more responsible society.
The activity helped us understand that maintaining food hygiene is essential for preventing health
issues and ensuring the well-being of consumers. encourage individuals to actively participate in
creating a healthier and more hygienic society.
It also created awareness about responsible food practices, waste disposal methods, and the importance
of keeping food-serving areas clean and organized. Through this Food Walk, students gained practical
knowledge and developed a sense of social responsibility toward promoting healthy habits and public
awareness. Such programs. Furthermore, the Food Walk activity provided students with an opportunity
to gain practical exposure outside the classroom and understand the real-world importance of hygiene
and food safety practices. During the visit, students carefully observed the surrounding environment,
food preparation methods, sanitation procedures, and cleanliness maintained in the food-serving area.
The activity also created awareness about the importance of maintaining proper waste disposal systems,
ensuring safe handling of food materials, and following health standards to protect consumers. Students
interacted with people and learned how awareness and responsible behavior can positively influence
society. Such activities help improve communication skills, teamwork, observation abilities, and social
responsibility among students while encouraging active participation in community welfare programs
and public health initiatives.
