Class 5 CBSE Mathematics Worksheet

Topics: Unitary Method, Polygons, Circle, and Money

1. Unitary Method
Definition: The unitary method is a technique in mathematics where we find the value of a single unit

and then use it to find the value of multiple units.

Example: If 5 apples cost Rs. 50, what is the cost of 1 apple?


Solution: Cost of 1 apple = Rs. 50 ÷ 5 = Rs. 10

Practice Questions:
1. If 8 pencils cost Rs. 64, what is the cost of 1 pencil?
2. A car covers 240 km in 4 hours. How much distance does it cover in 1 hour?
3. If 15 chocolates cost Rs. 300, what is the cost of 1 chocolate?

2. Polygons
Definition: A polygon is a closed figure made up of straight lines. The sides do not cross each other.

Types of Polygons:
- Triangle (3 sides)
- Quadrilateral (4 sides)
- Pentagon (5 sides)
- Hexagon (6 sides)

Practice Questions:
1. Name a polygon with 7 sides.
2. Draw and label a quadrilateral.
3. Identify the number of sides in a pentagon and a hexagon.

3. Circle
Definition: A circle is a round plane figure whose boundary (circumference) is equidistant from its
center.
Important Terms:
- Radius: Distance from the center to the boundary.
- Diameter: Twice the radius.
- Circumference: The perimeter of the circle.

Practice Questions:
1. If the radius of a circle is 7 cm, find the diameter.
2. What is the name of the longest chord in a circle?
3. Draw a circle and label its radius and diameter.

4. Money
Definition: Money is used to buy goods and services. It is measured in rupees (Rs.) and paise (p).

Practice Questions:
1. Convert Rs. 250 into paise.
2. If you have Rs. 500 and spend Rs. 325, how much money is left?
3. Rohan bought a notebook for Rs. 45.50 and a pen for Rs. 20.75. Find the total cost.
