Inheritance Worksheet - Answers

The document provides definitions of key genetic terms related to inheritance, including allele, dominant, recessive, homozygous, heterozygous, genotype, and phenotype. It explains how to use a Punnett square to predict offspring genotypes, using the example of a mother with achondroplasia and a father without the condition. The document concludes with a probability calculation for the inheritance of achondroplasia in their child.

homozygous
or two recessive alleles.

Achondroplasia is a form of dwarfism. It is caused by a dominant allele. A lady with

achondroplasia is a heterozygote and is pregnant with her first child. The child’s father does
not have achondroplasia.

Use the letter A to represent the dominant allele and the letter a to represent the recessive allele.
