3 Determining the Orientation and Tilt of PV Modules
Determine the orientation of PV modules based on design requirements. In the northern hemisphere, PV
modules face south. In the southern hemisphere, PV modules face north. The following table lists the tilt
design specifications.
Site latitude (degree) 0–15 16–25 26–30 31–45
PV module tilt (degree) 15 25 35 45

NOTE
 When the wind speed is less than 40 m/s (3s), it is considered as low wind speed.
 When the wind speed is greater than 40 m/s (3s) and less than 70 m/s (3s), it is considered as high wind speed. In that
case, raking struts and reinforcing vertical beams must be installed.

5 Installing a Low PV Module Support
1. Install posts.

NOTICE
•When installing posts, partially tighten anchor bolts. After installing all PV modules, tighten all the anchor bolts.
•Secure each bolt using two nuts.

2. Install vertical beams onto the posts.

NOTICE
Determine the position for installing vertical beams according to the PV module tilt angle.

6
3. Install horizontal beams onto the vertical beams.

NOTICE
Determine the position for installing a horizontal beam according to the position of the horizontal beam silkscreen in
relation to the partition plate for the vertical beam.

7
4. Install reinforcing vertical beams onto the horizontal beams.

5. Install raking struts.
a. Install clamps.
NOTICE
When installing a clamp, partially tighten the shorter side of the clamp using a bolt. Tighten it after the raking strut is
installed.

8
b. Install reinforcing raking struts.

c. Tighten the clamps and anchor bolts.

11
8. Install connectors.

9. Install PV modules.
 Determine the orientation of control boxes behind PV modules.
NOTE
When installing PV modules, ensure that the control boxes behind PV modules face the same direction.

12
 Determine the position for installing PV modules.

NOTE
 Install PV modules from left to right.
 Align the right edge of the first PV module with the right outer edge of the second vertical beam.
 Ensure that one end of each PV module is fastened to the hooks.

9 (Optional) Installing the Alarm Cable for Reporting PV Module Thefts

ECC500 Scenario
1. Route the cable through the
holes behind PV modules in
sequence and bind the cable
using cable ties.
2. Connect the cable to the
DI_1 port on the ECC500,
as shown in the figure on
the right.

NOTE
The dry contact for connecting
the alarm cable varies based
on actual conditions. The DI_1
port is used as an example.

ICC100 Scenario
ICC100-N5
1. Route the cable through the
holes behind PV modules in
sequence and bind the cable
using cable ties.
2. Connect the cable to the DI_1
port on the ICC100, as shown in
the figure on the right.

NOTE

the alarm cable varies based on
actual conditions. The DI_1 port
is used as an example.

SMU Scenario
1. Route the cable through the
holes behind PV modules in
sequence and bind the cable
using cable ties.
2. Connect the cable to the DIN2
port on the SMU, as shown in
the figure on the right.

NOTE
The dry contact for connecting UIM
the alarm cable varies based
on actual conditions. The DIN2
port is used as an example.
