✎ 1 mark for correct method; 1 mark for x = 7
(b) One side = (8y + 12) ÷ 4 = 2y + 3 cm
✎ 1 mark for dividing by 4 and simplifying correctly

Q20 — Fractions [3 marks]

(a) 3/4 ÷ 6 = 3/24 = 1/8 of the bag
✎ 1 mark for dividing correctly; 1 mark for simplifying to 1/8
(b) 1/2 × 1/8 = 1/16 of the original bag
✎ 1 mark for correct multiplication

Q21 — Ratio [3 marks]

(a) 1 unit = 200 ÷ 10 = 20; Ben = 3 × 20 = 60 stickers
✎ 1 mark for finding 1 unit; 1 mark for Ben's share
(b) Ali: 40 + 10 = 50; Clara: 100 − 10 = 90; New ratio = 50 : 90 = 5 : 9
✎ 1 mark for correct new values and simplified ratio

Q22 — Percentage [3 marks]

(a) Decrease = 80 − 52 = 28; % decrease = (28 ÷ 80) × 100 = 35%
✎ 1 mark method; 1 mark for 35%
(b) 30% of 52 = 15.6 → 15 shirts (round down); 15 × $45 = $675 (accept 16 × $45 = $720 if
rounded up with justification)
✎ 1 mark for correct calculation
Q23 — Angles [2 marks]
() Sum of angles in quadrilateral = 360°; Angle D = 360° − 95° − 112° − 78° = 75°
✎ 1 mark for using 360°; 1 mark for D = 75°

Q24 — Circles [3 marks]

(a) Area of square = 14 × 14 = 196 cm²; Area of semicircle = ½ × (22/7) × 7² = 77 cm²;
Remaining area = 196 − 77 = 119 cm²
✎ 1 mark each for area of square and semicircle; 1 mark for final answer
(b) Perimeter = 3 sides of square + curved arc = 3 × 14 + ½ × 2 × (22/7) × 7 = 42 + 22 = 64 cm
✎ 1 mark for correct perimeter method and answer

Q25 — Speed [3 marks]

(a) Car P at 09 00 has travelled 60 × 1 = 60 km
✎ 1 mark
(b) Remaining distance = 240 − 60 = 180 km; Combined speed = 60 + 80 = 140 km/h; Time to
meet = 180 ÷ 140 = 9/7 h ≈ 77 min; Meet time = 09 00 + 1h 17min = 10 17
✎ 1 mark for combined speed; 1 mark for correct time
