Control Systems Lab Assignment 2

The document outlines an assignment related to a Mass-Spring-Damper System, detailing the system's input as external force and output as mass position. It includes tasks such as deriving system equations and transfer functions with unknown parameters, as well as representing the system in MATLAB using specified parameter values. Additionally, it requires finding the state-space representation of the system without using parameter values.

Figure 1: Mass-Spring-Damper System

Mass-Spring-Damper System is given in Figure 1. We will assume that the input

of the system is the external force (f(t)), and the output is the position of the
mass (x(t)).

Parameter Values of the System:

(m) mass 50 kg
(k) spring constant 30 N/m
(c) damping coefficient 10 N*s/m
Assignment Procedure Section

1) Find the system equations with unknown parameters (without using the
parameter values above) on paper by hand.
2) Find the transfer function of the system with unknown parameters
(without using the parameter values above) on paper by hand.
3) Show the transfer function of the system in MATLAB using the parameter
values above.
4) Find the state-space representation of the system with unknown
parameters (without using the parameter values above) on paper by hand.
