HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT
Introduction
Blockchain is a secure digital technology used to store information safely. It keeps
records in blocks that cannot easily be upgraded or deleted. In healthcare management,
blockchain helps protect patient informations or details and improve medical services.

Hospitals and healthcare centers often face problems such as:
•Loss of patient records
This can be due improper storage of data in files or it can happen when there’s no
cybersecurity in the system
•Data breaches and hacking
Hackers may attack the system to theft some data, this caused by lack of system
security and cause data breaching immediately
•Difficulty sharing medical information
Because there’s no secure system that can control unauthorized access to the important
informations then deny the information access
•Fake medicines
This caused by insecure protection of medicines whether through tracking them to
ensure safety.
•Slow processing of medical history
This also due to data breaching or data loss
These problems can affect patient safety and treatment.

Blockchain stores patient information securely in a digital ledger. Doctors, hospitals, and
patients can access accurate records safely with permission.
For example:
•A patient visits a hospital.
•Medical records are added to the blockchain.
•Another doctor can securely access the same records if needed.
•The patient does not need to carry paper documents everywhere.
Therefore blockchain also helps track medicines from manufacturers to pharmacies to
prevent fake drugs.

•Better Security
Saved patient data is protected from hacking and unauthorized access.
•Accurate Medical Records
Information cannot easily be changed or lost where there’s a control of cyberattacks .
•Faster Treatment
Doctors can quickly access patient history where there’s no slowly information sharing .
•Reduced Paperwork
Hospitals can manage records digitally due to efficient access of patients records
quickly .
•Prevents Fake Medicines
Blockchain helps track medicines through the supply chain.

•IBM has worked on blockchain healthcare systems that improve medical data sharing
securely.
•Pfizer and other pharmaceutical companies have explored blockchain technology to
track medicines and reduce counterfeit drugs.

Despite its benefits, blockchain in healthcare also has some challenges that are still a
big problem ;
•High setup cost
There’s is costly in using this digital technology and reduce paperwork such as internet
and electricity services in some healthcares.
•Need for trained professionals
Professional doctors and nurses are needed or there is needs of training them about the
use of digital technology to ensure faster services to the patients.
•Privacy concerns
In healthcare security is still a problem that cause loss of patient data that caused by
presence of hackers and unauthorized access.
•Hospitals may need new technology system
such as digital system this will help to improve services through increase treatment
service and safety and protection to the patients.
Conclusion
Blockchain technology can improve healthcare management by making medical records
secure, accurate, and easy to share. It also helps hospitals reduce paperwork and
improve patient safety. In the future, blockchain may become an important technology
in healthcare systems worldwide.
