Interpersonal Dimensions of Behavior

Interpersonal dimensions of behavior focus on how individuals interact with each other, which is
crucial in organizational settings. It includes communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and
relationship building. Understanding these dimensions helps improve collaboration, productivity, and
overall organizational culture.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

TA is a psychological theory developed by Eric Berne that examines social interactions to understand

Parent, Adult, or Child.

Key Concepts in TA:

1. Ego States:

o Parent: Behaviors, attitudes, and feelings copied from authority figures.

o Adult: Logical, rational, and problem-solving.

o Child: Emotions, creativity, and learned childhood responses.

Implications of TA in Organizations:

1. Improved Communication: Encourages understanding the ego state from which a person is
communicating to respond appropriately.

2. Conflict Resolution: Identifies dysfunctional patterns (e.g., Parent-Child dynamics) and helps
establish Adult-Adult transactions.
3. Leadership Development: Leaders can use TA to mentor teams effectively by promoting
positive strokes and Adult interactions.
