Introduction ( Anna Jose )- Mahatma Gandhi once said and I
quote: ‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of
others.’ Good morning revenant Sr. Gracy, Ms. Kashyap, respected teachers
and my dear friends. Today the catholic students of class 9 are going to
make an illustrative presentation on the topic ‘Holy Week’. Let us invoke
God’s blessing through a prayer.
Prayer ( Samantha Daniel )- Beloved Father,
You sent your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to express your everlasting
love for your people. Father, we pray to you to kindle in us a desire to love
you and serve you till our last breath. Teach us to love our neighbours as
ourselves and help us find greater joy in bearing our everyday cross. Make
us an instrument of your peace and guide us to your word to help us find
strength and refuge. O lord send your spirit into the hearts of all people, that
the world might know true peace through your abundant mercy. Amen

Bible reading ( Joanna T Paul ) - Luke 24 - 1 - 8
1. On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took
the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone
rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the
body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly
two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their
fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men
said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not
here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in
Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be
crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered
his words.
Ash Wednesday ( Agna )- Lent is a period of 40 days
immediately preceding Easter, during which we remember the crucifixion
and resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings form the
foundation of Christianity.
The first day of Lent, Ash Wednesday reminds us of human mortality and the
need of reconciliation with God and marks the beginning of the penitential
Lenten season. It’s a day of fasting and on this day the congregation is
invited to receive ashes on their forehead in the form of a cross. It reminds
us that we who were created by God from out of dust, will return to the dust
after our death.
Palm Sunday ( Prisha )- Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week
and the Sunday before Easter. This celebration commemorates Jesus'
triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Palm Sunday is observed by the blessing
and sharing of palm leaves symbolising the olive branches placed in front of
Christ as he entered into Jerusalem. Now let us see how people rejoice when
Jesus entered Jerusalem.

Maundy Thursday ( Aren ) - “Whoever wants to become great
among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you
must be your slave” Mathew 20:26, 27. As if to put this into practice, on
Maundy Thursday Jesus washed the feet of his 12 disciples, giving us the
message of service and humility. He teaches us to serve others according to
our capability , irrespective of our stature in the society, just as the motto of
our school says “To serve with love”. Maundy Thursday is also the day of
Jesus Christ's last supper with his disciples. It was on the night of Maundy
Thursday that Jesus was betrayed by one of His disciples, Judas. He was
arrested after the Passover meal while he was praying in the Garden of
Gethsemane. He was then taken before the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate,
for trial. It is a great day in the history of the world when Jesus established a
new order, a new religion called Christianity. Let us understand the
significance of Maundy Thursday through this video clip.

Friday
Good Friday ( Vannesa )- St. Gianna Beretta said and I quote,
“Love and sacrifice are closely linked, like the sun and the light. We cannot
love without suffering and we cannot suffer without love”.
On Good Friday, people remember Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. It is a
solemn day, observed by fasting and is a gentle reminder to mankind that
Jesus sacrificed His life for the people whom he loved dearly. It is
commemorated by attending church services and enacting the last journey
of Jesus through the ‘ way of the cross’ reflecting on the agony and pain
experienced by Jesus Christ on his way to being crucified.

Easter ( Diya Agnisharma )- Easter is a symbol of hope,
renewal and new beginnings as it marks Jesus’s victory over sin and death
through his resurrection. Though He experienced rejection, betrayal and a
painful death, He gave hope to the people by rising on the third day and
showed his authority over death.
Easter also has non-traditional rituals such as Easter eggs and the Easter
bunny which are incorporated into the celebration of Easter. The Easter lily is
another new addition to Easter celebrations. The white Madonna lily
symbolises purity and innocence, frequently referring to Mary. It is Easter
that gives Christmas its true meaning and therefore calls for a bigger
celebration.
Now I would like to invite Sister Gracy to say a few words.
Conclusion ( Florence ) - Thank you sister for your words of
knowledge and wisdom.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
The values, morals and teachings of Jesus’s life, his words of wisdom and
acts of mercy, his compassion for the indigent and concern for their
sufferings should correspond and be evident in our lives too. We must follow
in Jesus’s trail and encourage others to do the same so that our lives may be
filled with grace and the blessing of God. We hope this illustration will
encourage all of us to practise the teaching and morals derived from it in our
lives. Lastly, I would like to thank Sr. Gracy and Ms. Kashyap for giving us
this opportunity for conducting the assembly and helping us to share
