How London Was Rebuilt

In October 1666, King Charles appointed architects, including Sir


Christopher Wren, to plan how to rebuild London.

Not all of these plans were followed, but many changes were made in the
areas that the fire had destroyed. Lots of the work was completed by 1676
(ten years after the fire).

How London Was Rebuilt
The rebuilt St Paul’s Cathedral was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and is
his most famous building. It was completed 45 years after the old one was
destroyed and is still standing today.
