PLC Programming Exercise

The document outlines a system for measuring an unknown frequency using a start and stop push button, and storing data in a FIFO Data Block with a capacity of 10 sets. It describes the operational logic for 5 fans in a cooling tower, which is based on running hours and temperature ranges, dictating how many fans will operate at different temperature thresholds. The fan operation is designed to prioritize the lowest running fan to start and the highest running fan to stop first.

1. Determine an unknown frequency coming through a digital input. One start PB and one Stop PB can be used for measuring the frequency .

2. Based on a triggering signal, a set of data will be written inside a Data Block which can store maximum 10 sets of data. The system will operate in FIFO methodology.

3. There are 5 fans present in a cooling tower.

ON/OFF operations of a fan is dependent on two things:

a) Running hours
- Lowest running fan will start first
- Highest running fan will stop first

b) Temperature

Logic behind temperature dependent fan starting will be like below:

- Temperature in between 20°C to 30°C: 1 Fan will operate
- Temperature in between 30°C to 40°C: 2 Fan will operate
- Temperature in between 40°C to 50°C: 3 Fans will operate
- Temperature in between 50°C to 60°C: 4 Fans will operate
- Temperature in between 70°C to 80°C: 5 Fan will operate
