conducted (“May AZEM Pa!” Therapeutic ACTIVITIES and ZUMBA session
for ELDERLY and MIDDLE Age Citizens of Sinag Kalinga Foundation Inc. in
Brgy. Ayute, Lucban Quezon) Project implemented by the undersigned as
program compliance for NSTP-CWTS 2.
3. Date/Duration of Activity:
a. Date Started: (Week 3 of Prelim term), specifically February 25, 2023,
- This was the beginning of planning, collaborating, and deciding on what
project the group will undertake and who will be our primary clientele for
the project, as well as defining its purpose and the beneficial effect it has
on the community. After the proponent has decided on which project to
pursue, they create a project proposal that must be approved by the
NSTP coordinator and CWTS facilitator.
b. Date Completed:
- This is a long-term project that will be implemented until the midterm, but
the proponent had its first visitation or first implementation on March 10,
2023, when the proponent sent a request letter to the organization. Then,
on March 17, 2023, they held their first ever implementation, where they
conducted various activities for the elders, such as a sing-along, fun
games, a Zumba session, and a time for engaging conversations with
the project proponent.
c. List of Participants/Recipient:
- The elders of the Sinag Kalinga Foundation, which ranges from 25 to 30
people. They have no participation permit because they are under the
authority of the foundation, and given the situation of others, they are
requested not to share their names, gender, age, and status out of
respect for their condition and privacy.
d. Partner Organization/Agency:
- This project has a partnership with the Sinag Kalinga Foundation Inc.,
which assists the proponents in the project's implementation, they offer
time to watch the entire activities, and their volunteer’s health personnel
are always around the elders, in terms of food safety, the proponent has
also agreed with the foundation dietician nutritionist and have agreed on
their different rules, regulations, and different information that we may
get from them are held confidential.

4. Narrative:
Phase I. During the initial phases of project preparation, the proponent created the
request letter to be sent to the foundation, as well as the permit that will allow the
elders to participate in the project. The proponent visited the foundation on March 10,
2023 and managed to learn about the condition and situation of the elders there,
having discovered that not all of them can participate in the Zumba session. As a
result, the proponent held a meeting and discussed alternative activities to the Zumba
session, as the foundation suggested that not all of the elders have the ability and
strength to remain up and participate in the Zumba session. After the foundation
approved the project, the proponent began setting a specific schedule where everyone
could be present and not conflict with the schedule. They then communicated with the
foundation and informed them of the set schedule where the proponents would visit
the premises and conduct the project. The schedule for every visitation of the
proponent is already set for every Tuesday of each week. This schedule was then
approved by the foundation because it was an unrestricted day for the elders and did
not conflict with other students working on their projects at the foundation.
Phase II. In the second phase of the project, the proponent planned the various
activities that will be implemented during the first week of implementation, something
therapeutic, fun, and not physically exhausting. They have agreed to take part in
different activities led by each member of the group, such as sing-alongs, guessing
the 90's song game, Zumba Dance, Ballroom dancing, and engaging in meaningful
conversations with our elders. However, before they begin implementing these
activities, they have gone through an orientation with a foundation
coordinator/volunteer about their history, purpose, and any suggestions and rules that
the proponent has agreed upon. The proponent began the activity with a brief
introduction and explanation of the project in which they are involved; they introduced
themselves to the elders; and the entire experience was light, fun, and engaging. Mr.
Rey Mart Lunario, the group's main spokesperson, led the entire activity and was in
charge of coordinating with the dietician about the food and water that the proponent
brought into the foundation. The program is then followed by various activities that
they planned and led with the group's members. It was a successful activity, and both
the elders and the proponents had a good time.
Phase III. In this phase of the project, the focus was more on the evaluation and
reflection of the project's initial implementation, as the proponent recognizes various
issues that need to be addressed and what actions, decisions, and approaches they
can take to help them better handle different situations and implement the project more
effectively. As this is a long-term project, the proponent discusses more of the activities
that they implement in the foundation during this phase, as well as seeking the support
of any governmental or non-governmental bodies to assist them in seeking support in
any way to drive this project to success. They are also planning to hold a donation
drive, either online or in person, to help the elders with whatever they require given
their circumstances, but this is still a plan that is subject to reevaluation and approval
by the foundation itself. Basically, in this phase of the project, it is more about creating

plans for the next activities, filling the gap left by the first implementation, and laying
out more plans for the elders, as well as collaborating with more organizations or
agencies that can truly help the elders more through this project.
5. Importance/Benefits gained from the project:
In accordance with what the proponent observed during each visitation, it is
clear that these elders are in a phase of their lives that is very sedentary and
monotonous, and that even though the foundation is implementing different
activities to deflect attention them for a while, it is still insufficient because they
have been living in the same routine everyday in their life at the foundation. With
this project, it was discovered that it was very beneficial in their mental, emotional,
and physical health, as most of them do not have a relative anymore. The
proponent regarded themselves as the elder’s grandchildren, bringing joy, fun,
laughter, and care to those who lacked it. Then, given the various conditions that
they have, this project aims to resolve and alleviate those that they are carrying
within them in some way, that even at their age and given their situation, they still
deserved to be happy, to laugh, to be loved, to be taken care of, as this is especially
needed as a person gets older.
This project was not only beneficial to the elders or the foundation, but it was
also beneficial to the project's proponents, as they were able to see a different
perspective of the life of those who were left behind and, in some ways, sympathize
with their sentiments and feelings. This is an important and relevant project
because most people neglect the needs of the elderly, particularly the care and
understanding that they demand. It was evident in the project's activities that this
provides them with emotional and mental support through the various activities that
were implemented, as well as in physical well-being, as they are able to perform
minimal gestures that are beneficial to their joints and muscles. Everyone clearly
gained the values of empathy, care, concern, and ecstasy, especially the project's
proponents, who were able to share their talents and good intentions with people
who felt alone in this lifetime, and made them feel that they are not.
6. Observation/ Problem encountered during the conduct of activity:
The project's proponent did not encounter any significant obstacles or problems
during the entire period of project implementation. They did, however, encounter a
minor issue with regard to the visitation schedule because the majority of them
have varying schedules and obligations, but this was easily rectified.
7. Recommendation/s
Since this project is being implemented over a long period of time, the proponents
are open to suggestions, recommendations, and comments regarding the project,
its activities, and its implementation.

This was the time when the proponents confirmed the approval of the project proposal
to be conducted and implemented in the foundation. It was also the time when they
agreed on the fixed schedule for the weekly visitation that they would be conducting.
The proponents also wander around the facility to become acquainted with the settings
and to get a sense of the ambiance.
This is the general orientation of the proponents with a coordinator in the foundation
who explains the history of the foundation, its purpose and objectives, and then also
allows the proponents to take a quick tour of the entire area and become more
acquainted with the various personnel under the facility.

This was the project's first implementation, and it was a success; the proponent, the
elders, and even the healthcare personnel had a good time that day. Different activities
were held, such as a sing-along in which all of the proponents offered a song to our
elders, led by Shem Sumalinog, and then a game called "Guess the 90's song," led
by Mr. John Mikhael Touchette and Mr. Vincent Elca. The proponent then led a Zumba
dance led by Emie Rosem Sabado, in which all of the elders grooved to the music with
minimal gestures. Then there was a socialize dance, in which most of the proponents
joined the elders in dancing.
This encapsulates the project's implementation for this term, along with the
proponent's plans for additional activities and future plans for our elders. As can
be seen from the expressions on the elders' faces, the proponents are eager to
see them again and be the cause of their happiness in such ways, continuing to
serve as their extended family who are ready to put forth the time, effort, and care
for them. Their genuine joy at being with someone who holds them in the highest
regard is evident from their faces, smiles, and laughter.
