MS Paint – Basics (Class 6)

1. What is MS Paint?

MS Paint (Microsoft Paint) is a simple drawing program that is used to draw pictures, color images, and do
basic image editing on a computer.

2. How to Open MS Paint

 Click on Start Menu


 Go to All Programs
 Select Accessories
 Click on Paint

3. Main Parts of MS Paint

1. Title Bar
o Shows the name of the file and the program (Paint).
2. Menu / Ribbon
o Contains commands like File, Home, View.
3. Drawing Area (Canvas)
o The white space where we draw pictures.
4. Tools Group
o Contains tools like Pencil, Brush, Eraser, Fill with Color, Text.
5. Shapes Group
o Used to draw shapes such as rectangle, circle, line, triangle.
6. Color Box / Color Palette
o Used to choose colors for drawing and filling.
7. Status Bar
o Shows information like image size and zoom level.

4. Common Tools in MS Paint

 Pencil Tool – Used for freehand drawing


 Brush Tool – Used to paint with different brush styles
 Eraser Tool – Used to erase part of a drawing
 Fill with Color Tool – Used to fill color in closed shapes
 Text Tool – Used to write text in the drawing
 Magnifier Tool – Used to zoom in or out
