argument. Soon, many animals gathered excitedly to watch. The fox marked a starting line under a big tree and a
finish line near a hill beside the river. “Ready, steady, go!” shouted the fox. The rabbit dashed forward at great
speed while the turtle began walking slowly. Dust flew behind the rabbit as he raced far ahead. The turtle
continued moving carefully, step by step, without stopping. After a while, the rabbit looked back and saw the turtle
far behind. “This race is too easy,” he thought proudly. “I have plenty of time to rest.” The rabbit lay down under a
cool shady tree. A soft breeze blew through the forest, and before long, the rabbit fell fast asleep. Meanwhile, the
turtle kept moving slowly and steadily. He did not stop to rest, and he never gave up. Little by little, he passed the
sleeping rabbit and continued toward the finish line. After some time, the rabbit suddenly woke up. He jumped to
his feet and looked around in shock. The turtle was almost at the finish line! The rabbit ran as fast as he could, but
it was too late. The turtle crossed the finish line first. All the animals clapped and cheered loudly for the turtle. The
rabbit felt embarrassed and understood that being overconfident can lead to failure. From that day onward, the
rabbit never laughed at others again, and all the animals remembered the lesson: Slow and steady wins the race.
