Types of statistical data
1. Descriptive Statistics
o Concerned with summarizing and describing data.
o Includes: tables, graphs, averages (mean, median, mode), percentages, and
measures of spread (range, variance, standard deviation).
o Example: The average age of students in a class is 16 years.
2. Inferential Statistics
o Concerned with making predictions, generalizations, or conclusions about a
population based on a sample.
o Uses probability, hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression.
o Example: Using a sample of voters to predict election results for the whole
country.
