Experiments

The document outlines three experiments investigating factors affecting reaction rates: temperature, concentration, and surface area. Higher temperatures and concentrations lead to faster reactions, while increased surface area also enhances reaction speed. Data from the experiments support these conclusions, showing significant differences in reaction times based on the tested variables.

Experiment 1:

This experiment tested how temperature affects reaction rate. The tablet
reacted faster in hot water than in cold water. This shows that higher
temperature increases reaction speed.

Data:

Hot water: 48 seconds

Cold water: 126 seconds

Observation: Hot water bubbled faster, cold water was way slower

Key concept:

Increasing temperature increases both the frequency and energy of

molecular collisions. The Particles moved faster, so they collided more
often and with enough energy to overcome activation energy, and it
became more collisions

Experiment 2:

This experiment tested how concentration affects rection rate. The

reaction with pure vineger was faster than the diluted one, but the diluted
one finished bubbling before the pure one did and also the balloon was
inflated faster in the pure vineger.

Data:

Pure vineger stoped bubbling in 1 min 14 seconds

Diluted vineger stopped bubbling in 1 min 5 seconds

Observation: even though the diluted vineger took less time to stop
bubbling . The pure vinegar inflated the ballon faster when i put the
baking soda

Key concept: Making the concentration higher increases the collision

frequency so more particles collided and it made faster reaction(it inflated
the balloon faster).

Experiment 2:

This experiment how surface area affects rection rate. The crushed tablet
reacted faster than the whole tablet. This shows that increasing surface
are speeds the reactions.

Data

Whole tablet: 1 min 59 seconds

Crushed tablet: 1 min 20 seconds

Observation: crushed tablets disolved way faster

Key concept: Increasing surface area allows more collisions to occur at the
same time. When there is more collision the reaction speeds up. That why
the crushed tablet disolved faster than the whole tablet.
