This report details the design of a conveyor shaft assembly capable of transmitting 10 kW power using a spur gear system. It includes sections on gear design, shaft design, bearing selection, and material selection, ensuring a factor of safety of at least 2. The selected materials for the components include medium carbon steel for the shaft, alloy steel for the gear, and hardened steel for the bearing.

ABSTRACT
This report presents the design of a conveyor shaft system transmitting 10 kW power
using a spur gear arrangement. The design includes gear, shaft and bearing selection
based on standard mechanical design principles.

3
PROBLEM STATEMENT
A conveyor system transmits 10 kW from a 1200 rpm motor to a 400 rpm roller. The
system requires design of spur gears, shaft and bearings with FoS ≥ 2.
