Basic Computer Knowledge

1. What is a computer?
Ans: A computer is an electronic machine that takes input, processes it,
and gives output.

Example: 2 + 2 = (computer shows) 4

2. How computer works (IPO Cycle)?


Input = Data is given
Process = Computer works on data
Output = Result is shown
Example:
Typing your name = it appears on screen.

3. Parts of computer
 CPU = Brain
 Monitor = Screen
 Keyboard = Typing
 Mouse = Clicking

Example: You type on keyboard and result shows on the monitor.

4. What is CPU?
CPU is the brain of the computer. It controls all work.
Example: Opening a game = CPU runs it

5. Input devices
Devices used to give data.
Example: Keyboard , Mouse
Example use: Typing = Input

6. Output devices
Devices that show results.
Examples: Monitor, Printer
Example use: Watching video = Output
7. Memory
Memory stores data.

 RAM (Random Access Memory): Temporary


Example: Playing a game
 ROM (Read Only Memory): Permanent
Example: System data

 Hardware : Physical parts
Example: Keyboard
 Software: Programs
Example: Windows

Internet connects computers worldwide.
Example: Using Google
