General Instructions:
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. The question paper consists of two sections.
3. Section A contains 20 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each. Answers
are to be marked on the OMR sheet.
4. After marking answers on the OMR sheet, do not cut or use
eraser/whitener.
5. Section B contains descriptive questions of 50 marks.
6. Section B contains 5 questions. Question 1 is very short answer type,
Question 2 is short answer type, and Questions 3, 4, and 5 are long
answer type.
7. The number of parts to be attempted in each question is clearly indicated.
8. Marks are indicated against each question.
9. Start answering from Question 1 and attempt till the end. Do not waste
time on questions you cannot answer.

Question 2 (Attempt any five)


(a) In two supplementary angles, one angle is 18° more than the other. Find
them.
(b) In trapezium ABCD where AB || DC, diagonals intersect at O. Prove that
corresponding sides are proportional using similarity criteria.
(c) Find the zeroes of 3x² − x − 4 and verify the relationship between zeroes and
coefficients.
(d) Prove that the perpendicular drawn from the point of contact to the tangent
passes through the centre of the circle.
(e) From the given weight distribution of 30 students, find the median weight.
(f) From a box containing 5 red, 8 white, and 4 green marbles, one marble is
drawn at random. Find probability that it is:
(i) Red
(ii) Not green

Question 3 (6 Marks)
Five years hence, Jacob’s age will be three times his son’s age. Five years ago,
Jacob’s age was seven times his son’s age. Find their present ages.
OR
A train travels 480 km at uniform speed. If its speed were 8 km/h less, it would
take 3 hours more. Find its speed.

Question 4 (6 Marks)
On both sides of an 80 m wide road, two poles of equal height stand opposite
each other. From a point between them, angles of elevation of their tops are 60°
and 30°. Find the height of poles and distance of the point from each pole.
OR
From the top of a 75 m high lighthouse, angles of depression of two ships are 30°
and 45°. If both ships are on the same side and one is directly behind the other,
find the distance between the ships.

Question 5 (6 Marks)
From a solid cylinder of height 2.4 m and diameter 1.4 cm, a conical cavity of
same height and diameter is carved out. Find the surface area of the remaining
solid.
OR
An iron pillar consists of a cylinder of height 220 cm and diameter 24 cm,
surmounted by another cylinder of height 60 cm and radius 8 cm. Find its mass if
density of iron is 8 g/cm³. (π = 3.14)
