Abstract
Healthcare monitoring is important for patient safety and disease prevention. The IoT Based
Smart Healthcare Monitoring System helps monitor patient health conditions remotely using
sensors and internet connectivity.
The system measures body temperature, heart rate, and oxygen level using sensors
connected to a microcontroller. The data is transmitted to doctors or caregivers through the
internet for continuous monitoring.
Introduction
IoT technology is transforming the healthcare industry by enabling remote patient
monitoring and real-time health analysis.
Traditional health monitoring requires hospital visits and manual observation. IoT systems
allow doctors to monitor patients remotely, improving healthcare efficiency and reducing
emergency risks.
Objectives
• To monitor patient health parameters continuously.
• To provide remote healthcare support.
• To reduce hospital visits.
• To improve emergency response.
• To store patient data digitally.
Components Used
Component Function
ESP8266 NodeMCU Main controller
Heart Rate Sensor Measures pulse rate
Temperature Sensor Measures body temperature
Pulse Oximeter Sensor Measures oxygen level
LCD Display Displays readings
Cloud Platform Stores patient data
Mobile Application Remote monitoring
Working Principle
Sensors continuously monitor the patient’s health parameters. The NodeMCU collects
sensor data and uploads it to the cloud platform.
Doctors or caregivers can access the data remotely through a mobile application. Alerts can
be generated if abnormal health conditions are detected.
For example:
• High body temperature may indicate fever.
• Low oxygen level may indicate breathing problems.
Advantages
• Remote patient monitoring
• Real-time health tracking
• Faster medical response
• Reduced healthcare cost
• Improved patient safety
Applications
• Hospitals
• Home healthcare
• Elderly care
• Fitness monitoring
• Emergency medical systems
Future Scope
Future systems may include:
• AI-based disease prediction
• Smart wearable devices
• Cloud-based medical records
• Integration with smart hospitals
Conclusion
The IoT Based Smart Healthcare Monitoring System improves healthcare services through
real-time monitoring and remote accessibility. The project demonstrates the importance of
IoT in modern healthcare systems.
