Interview Script of the study “Unveiling the Lived Experiences of Part-Time
Instructors At Davao Winchester Colleges, Inc.: A Phenomenological Exploration”
(The Interview begins)
Researcher: Good day to you ma'am sir, we are the researchers that have notified and
contacted you for your participation in our Qualitative study, and based on the consent
that we retrieved from you, you have consented us to do an in depth interview with you
as you share your experiences as Part-Time Instructor at Davao Winchester Colleges,
Inc., we will not be making this long sir/ma'am, so shall we begin our interview?
(Participant answers)
Researcher: Sir/Ma'am we will remind you again that our interview will be recorded and
transcribed, so we researchers are hoping that we will get an honest answer thank you
for your kind consideration, ma'am/sir.
1. What are the lived experiences of part-time instructors at DWCI as they
navigate the demands of their teaching role?
1.1. Can you describe a situation where balancing your part-time teaching at
DWCI and your other job significantly impacted your time, energy, or well-being.
What factors do you think contributed to this situation?
1.2 What emotional or personal challenges have you faced while balancing your
teaching role at DWCI with other commitments?
1.3 How does your part-time status at DWCI impact your other job(s), and how
do your other commitments affect your teaching at DWCI?
1.4 In what ways have the demands of your multiple roles impacted your
relationships with your friends, loved ones, and family?
1.5 Recall a time when you had to make a difficult choice among your
responsibilities (family time, part-time teaching at DWCI, and another job). What
were the consequences of your decision?
2. How do part-time instructors cope with the challenges of balancing their
teaching, employment, and personal commitments?
2.1 What strategies do you employ to prioritize your own physical and mental
well-being and prevent burnout while balancing the demands of teaching, your
other job, and your personal life?
2.2 How do you stay organized and ensure you meet deadlines for both your
teaching and other commitments?
2.3 How do you manage stress and maintain a work-life balance while teaching
part-time at DWCI?
2.4 Can you recall describe a time when you couldn't meet the demands of one
of your two roles, how did you address the situation? Do you seek support from
others (e.g., colleagues, mentors, family)?
2.5 How do you maintain relationships with family and friends despite having to
meet the demands of part-time teaching at DWCI and other responsibilities?
3. What insights can be drawn from the lived experiences of part-time instructors
at DWCI?
3.1 What motivated you to teach part-time at DWCI considering you already
have an external occupation and how did it motivate you?
3.2 How important do you think are part-time instructors in the academic
community based on your own experience?
3.3 If you were to give advice to someone considering part-time teaching, based
on your own experiences, what would you share?
3.4 What institutional polices do you think the administration should implement to
help and support part-time instructors?
3.5 Do you see yourself continuing as a part-time instructor at DWCI in the long
term? What factors would influence your decision to stay or leave?
