The Role of Competent Bodies in Training Standards Assurance

All sectors of the company, due to the constant increase in demands, require constant
development of knowledge of engineers, specialists and leaders.
In the development of knowledge, companies often seek the help of large certification
bodies, in order to guarantee the successful development of personnel and the timely
transfer of the most necessary knowledge.
Despite its importance, the guarantee is often misunderstood.
In particular, there is a difference between the authors of the standards and the competent
bodies that are qualified to provide a guarantee after the training has been carried out. This
can lead to assumptions about who is best positioned to provide guarantee services. By
understanding how the guarantee works and what it verifies, stakeholders can make
stronger and more informed choices. It is noticeable that organizations for setting standards
for employee training are not the only option for providing a guarantee. Choosing the right
guarantee body ensures optimal objectivity, rigor and credibility.

What do we mean by ‘Assurance’?

Assurance in the training sector encompasses systematic processes, including

surveying/preparation, training, testing, organizing workshops with practical examples, and
certification, to ensure the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of training
requirements for experts and leaders within client companies.

It serves as a key mechanism for preventing risk, protecting the quality of expert and leader
training, and confirming that training systems are functioning as intended, often through
third-party validation.
Certification process of experts and leaders:

Phase 1: Applying for specific expert and leadership training and knowledge
assessment by the trainer of the certification body.

Phase 2: At this phase, it is necessary to submit appropriate evidence:

• Work curriculum vitae as proof of acquired experience;
• Certificates was candidates already possess - issued only by accredited certification
bodies within the IATF and VDA;
• Other evidence that is necessary at the request of the certification body.
Note: Leaders must prove a minimum of three years of experience within a specific
department in order to access the training.

Phase 3: Successful completion of the core modules training by the candidate. The
core modules include the following trainings: QC 7 Tools; 8D Problem Solving + RCA;
Core Tools - APQP, FMEA, CP, PPAP, MSA and SPC.

Phase 4: Successful completion of specific module training by the candidate. Specific

modules include the following training: ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Standard; ISO 19011
Guidelines for Performing Internal Audits; CSR - Customer Specific Requirements;
Special Features Management (CS); FTA - Fault Tree Analysis; Department KPI; VDA
6.3 – Process Audit; VDA 6.5 – Product Audit; PSCR - Product Safety & Conformity
Representative and LPA - Layered Process Audits.
Note: Candidates must complete specific training depending on the training
requirements matrix for the certification they have applied for. The requirements matrix
for all positions can be found on the next page (X – mandatory; O – optional).

Phase 5: Final exam at the location of the certification body or the client's location.
A practical task for an expert or leader, which requires the application of
comprehensive knowledge acquired during training on basic and specific modules.
Note: The final exam cannot be taken online.

Phase 6: Certification of experts and leaders, as the final act of recognition by the
prestigious Bureau Veritas certification body.
