Abstract
Disasters, whether natural or man-made, pose significant challenges to human life and
infrastructure. In recent years, technology has emerged as a powerful tool in disaster
management, helping in early warning, preparedness, response, and recovery. This research
explores the role of technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), satellite
communication, drones, mobile applications, artificial intelligence, and big data in
minimizing the impact of disasters. These technologies enable real-time monitoring,
efficient resource allocation, and quick communication, thereby saving lives and reducing
damage. The paper also highlights case studies from India where technology has played a
crucial role, such as during the Uttarakhand floods and Odisha cyclones. The aim is to
understand how the integration of modern technology into disaster management systems
can build a safer and more resilient society.
