DIGITAL LEARNING – YEAR 7
END OF WEEK ASSIGNMENT (Marks: 20)
1. Work out these: (Marks: 5)
a) Find the area of a square whose side is 12 cm.
Area = side² = 12 × 12 = 144 cm²
Answer: 144 cm²
b) If the area of a rectangle is 24 cm² and the length is 8 cm, find the breadth.
Breadth = Area ÷ Length = 24 ÷ 8 = 3 cm
Answer: 3 cm
2. Find the area of this trapezium: (Marks: 5)
Area = ½ × (a + b) × h
Assume a = 10 cm, b = 6 cm, h = 5 cm
Area = ½ × (10 + 6) × 5 = 40 cm²
Answer: 40 cm²
3. Find the area of the compound shape: (Marks: 5)
Split the shape into two rectangles.
Bottom rectangle: 10 × 4 = 40 cm²
Top rectangle: 5 × 4 = 20 cm²
Total Area = 40 + 20 = 60 cm²
Answer: 60 cm²
4. Find the area of the shaded region: (Marks: 5)
Rectangle area = 20 × 8 = 160 cm²
Triangle base = 20 - 4 - 3 = 13 cm, height = 8 cm
Triangle area = ½ × 13 × 8 = 52 cm²
Shaded area = 160 - 52 = 108 cm²
Answer: 108 cm²
