3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION:
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is
to be performed:
1
4. DESCRIPTION:
Field of the invention:
[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to the technical field of self-cleaning system
and, in specific, relates to a windshield wiper with a deicer and a self-cleaning system that
cleans the accumulated snow on the wipers and melt the snow around the wiper blade
simultaneously to perform self-cleaning operation to the wiper blade.
Background of the invention:
[0002] In generally wind shield wiper is very important for vehicles. They work like a
squeegee, in a back-and-forth motion they wipe water, snow, wiper fluid, and other liquids
or debris off the windshield. Wind shield wipers starts working when user activate it manually.
Windshield wipers are operated by an electric motor. The windscreen wiper, windshield
wiper, wiper blade, or simply wiper, is a device used to remove rain, snow, ice, washer fluid,
water, or debris from a vehicle's front window. Almost all motor vehicles, including cars,
trucks, buses, train locomotives, and watercraft with a cabin and some aircraft, are equipped
with one or more such wipers, which are usually a legal requirement.
[0003] A wiper generally consists of a metal arm; one end pivots, and the other end has a long
rubber blade attached to it. The arm is powered by a motor, often an electric motor, although
pneumatic power is also used for some vehicles. The blade is swung back and forth across the
glass, removing any water, precipitation, or other obstructions to visibility from its surface.
[0004] Currently, a windscreen washer system is also used for vehicles to improve and expand
the function of the wipers in dry or icy conditions. This windscreen washer system sprays
water or an antifreeze window washer fluid on the windscreen through well-positioned
nozzles. This windscreen washer system aids to remove dirt or dust from the windscreen
when used in concert with the wiper blades. The wipers can remove the accumulated snow
or ice when the antifreeze washer fluid is used. Further, the vehicles may also be equipped
with additional defroster systems and heaters having embedded heating wire(s) on the
windshield for melting the accumulated snow or ice.
2
[0005] A problem frequently encountered by user is the collection of sleet, ice, or snow on
the wiper blade. As long as the snow remains merely trapped, the efficiency of the wiper
blade is severely reduced, as a significant portion or all of the wiper blade can no longer
engage the exterior surface of the windshield. Snow and/or ice formation anywhere on the
windscreen wiper assembly may contribute to reducing the efficiency of the blade in wiping
the windshield.
[0006] Usually, the removal of sleet, ice, or snow requires the driver to stop and knock it off
the wiper blade by hand. Some big semi-truck drivers will have to pull out a ladder and climb
on the hood to clean the wiper blades. Some drivers will try to knock off the sleet, ice, or snow
while driving, and other drivers will tolerate an obstructed windshield either scenario creates
a driving hazard.
[0007] To overcome this problem or to clear the snow on the vehicle windshield, the user
manually pour hot water or de-icing liquid on the snow to melt the ice on the windshield. To
clear snow from the wind shield, a vehicle windscreen is equipped with an automatic heat
supply system. However, if we supply hot water to the windshield to clear the snow, there
would be a sudden change in temperature, which could crack and even shatter the
windshield. There is also a vehicle wiper with an automatic de-icing fluid spraying system on
the market. But this design requires a pump to spray the de-icing fluid on the snow.
[0008] The existing automatic hot or de-icing fluid supply designs clean the snow on the
windscreen only they may not clean the wiper blade accurately. Due to insufficient cleaning
of the wiper blade, the snow attached to the wiper blade may spread on the windscreen while
cleaning. Instead of using hot fluids or de-icing fluid, the user should manually pull the wiper
from the windscreen or may attach vibrators to the wiper to clean the snow on the wiper and
windshield. The manual pulling is a cumbersome and time-consuming process, and vibrators
could damage the windscreen structure.
[0009] By addressing all the above mentioned problems, there is a need for a windshield
wiper with a deicer and a self-cleaning system that cleans the accumulated snow on the
wipers and melt the snow around the wiper blade simultaneously to perform self-cleaning
3
operation to the wiper blade. There is also a need for a windshield wiper which eliminates the
usage of pumps for delivering de-icing fluid and saves electrical power. There is also a need
for a windshield wiper for removing the accumulated snow weight on the wiper blade and
provides easy rotating action to the wiper blade to clean the accumulated snow on the
windshield. There is also a need for a windshield wiper to transfer the accumulated snow on
the wiper blade and sprays the de-icing fluid around the wiper blade simultaneously.
Objectives of the invention:
[0010] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a windshield wiper with a
deicer and a self-cleaning system which cleans the accumulated snow on the wipers and melt
the snow around the wiper blade simultaneously to perform self-cleaning operation to the
wiper blade.
[0011] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a windshield wiper with a
deicer and a self-cleaning system which eliminates the usage of pumps for delivering de-icing
fluid and saves electric power.
[0012] Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide a windshield wiper with a
deicer and a self-cleaning system that removes the accumulated snow weight on the wiper
blade and provides easy rotating action to the wiper blade to clean the snow on the
windshield.
[0013] Further objective of the present invention is to provide a windshield wiper with a
deicer and a self-cleaning system that transfers the snow on the wiper blade and sprays the
de-icing fluid around the wiper blade.

7. ABSTRACT:
Title: Windshield Wiper with a deicer and a Self-Cleaning System and Method of
Operating the Same
The present disclosure proposes a windshield wiper (100) with a deicer and a self-cleaning
system. The windshield wiper (100) with a deicer and a self-cleaning system comprises a wiper
blade (102) configured to reciprocate back and forth across a windshield screen (10) of a
vehicle to clean the windshield screen (10). The wiper blade (102) comprises a snow
transferring plate (110) to transfer snow and ice accumulated on the wiper blade (102), at
least one sprayer (130) to spray the de-icing fluid (108) on the wiper blade (102) through one
or more outlets of a conduit (131), thereby melting the snow around the wiper blade (102).
The proposed invention cleans the accumulated snow on the wiper and melt the snow around
the wiper blade simultaneously to perform self-cleaning operation to the blade.
