SafeAlert: Intelligent Real-Time Disaster Prediction System
Natural disasters such as tsunamis, heavy rainfall, cyclones, floods, and landslides cause
serious damage to property, agriculture, and public infrastructure. Many families lose their
homes, and communities take a long time to recover. One major problem in disaster
management is the delay in giving early warnings to people who are in [Link]
warning systems depend on meteorological departments, seismic monitoring centers, and
satellite data. However, the analysis process may take time, and communication is sometimes
delayed. Alerts are usually given through television, radio, or SMS messages. In rural and
remote areas, poor network coverage, power cuts, and lack of awareness prevent people from
receiving warnings on time. Sometimes alerts are general and not specific to a particular
location, which creates confusion. Because of these issues, people may not get enough time
to move to safe places, increasing the risk of loss. A faster and more reliable early warning
system is needed. To address this problem, the proposed project introduces a Smart Disaster
Early Warning System using technologies such as IoT sensors, Artificial Intelligence,
Machine Learning, cloud computing, and mobile communication. Sensors are placed in
disaster-prone areas like coastal regions, flood zones, riverbanks, and hilly areas. The sensors
continuously monitor rainfall, water levels, wind speed, air pressure, soil moisture, and
ground vibrations. The collected data is sent to a cloud platform where intelligent algorithms
analyze it in real time and compare it with past data to predict possible disasters. If a risk is
detected, the system immediately sends location-based alerts through SMS, mobile
applications, sirens, digital boards, and community radio. Compared to existing systems, this
project provides automatic and real-time warnings without heavy manual work. The system
send area-specific alerts and support local languages for better understanding. Early and clear
warnings help people evacuate safely and reduce damage. The system also helps authorities
plan rescue operations more effectively.
