Overview
The BestCRM application is a demo asset highlighting Sisense’s embedded capabilities in an
improved manner. This will allow the organisation to move away from demo’ing Sisense in our
actual web application, and help paint the story for prospects to visually see and understand
what a typical Sisense OEM customer could achieve with embedding our solution.
The demo is focusing on the front-end application, there is no access currently to the Sisense
admin side of the application.

Intro/Preface
In the following demonstration we will be logging into a fictional CRM application to
demonstrate the rich and powerful ways in which your users can derive insights from
embedding Sisense. We will be switching between different personas to highlight how Sisense
can support the need to surface insights to a variety of different users with varying roles and
access rights commonly seen in most B2B applications.
We’ll also highlight aspects of the application that are coming directly from Sisense, and
provide a realistic understanding of how infusing Sisense can help you differentiate your
product, create new revenue streams and increase product stickiness.
Afterwards, we’ll take you directly to the Sisense platform to showcase how dashboards
are easily created enabling you and your team to speed up the time of development of your
analytics offering.
Login Portal of CRM
Value drivers: SSO to improve user experience of not having to re-login, REST API to
programmatically control data governance and access rights
To begin, we are first prompted to login to the CRM application via its login portal. First
we will login as Rihanna Jones, who in this scenario is a Chief Revenue Officer and has access
to view all of the sales pipeline information across all of the sales managers that report up to
her.
Note that Rihanna is logging into the Best CRM portal and using Sisense SSO capabilities - this
will also get a secure session with Sisense elements in the portal.
Let’s go ahead and login.
Homepage
Value drivers: Embedding, Customization, Rebranding, White-labeling, Look & Feel
When Rihanna logs in she enters the homepage where she is able to have a quick
glance at some of the KPIs she finds the most important. Having these analytics delivered
directly within the tool itself increases the product stickiness of the application, enabling Rihanna
to find great value in understanding her business insights by continuously logging into the
application.
Within this page we can see 4 indicator widgets that have been individually embedded
from Sisense for Rihanna to see how her teams are tracking so far. In addition, Rihanna can
track Revenue closed over the past year along with the percent change month over month.
The rest of the components found on this page are part of the parent application
showing how you can tailor the exact customer experience you want to provide. With Sisense’s
extensive customisation capabilities, embedded Sisense objects can really look and feel as an
integral part of the application by matching the look and feel of wherever you want to embed
Sisense.
Here we are embedding into a React web application using our JavaScript library called
SisenseJS . This powerful embedding method enables you to embed individual dashboards,
widgets, and filters giving you and your development teams the flexibility to pick and choose
exactly how you want to deliver analytics.
This embedding method also allows you to drive actions directly from the KPIs, as the
Sisense widgets expose events and handlers that can be attached to actions outside of Sisense
and within the embedding application - for example, opening a specific Opportunity in the
Opportunities tab.
Rihanna is particularly interested in understanding more about her team's performance
so she decides to dig deeper. Clicking on either the Closed Won ACV widget or the Insights
page on the left panel navigates her to the Insights page where she has the ability to get a more
in-depth look enabling her to make more data-driven decisions.
Insights (Rihanna Jones)
Value Drivers: Ad-hoc data exploration (filtering), Pulse, Forecast, Explanations
Within the insights section we’re able to dig deeper into the metrics shown within the
homepage. What we’re seeing here is an individual dashboard embedded using our Embed
SDK - an intuitive method to embed a group of KPIs and Widgets, while being able to interact
with them via API and hooks from the embedding application - we can actually see how the
toggles on the top (which is the embedding application) can hide/show different Sisense
elements, such as the Filters sidebar or Dashboard sidebar.
As the CRO, Rihanna has many Sales Managers reporting directly to her. She wants to
be able to slice and dice the data in whichever way she needs to in order to get her questions
answered. With Sisense’s highly interactive dashboard she is able to click through each
individual sales manager to get a clearer picture of performance. Clicking through the
Opportunity Statuses by Sales Manager we can see that we’re able to filter the entire dashboard
to focus on specific managers. We can see that every KPI on this dashboard updates to reflect
each individually clicked on Sales Manager.
Value drivers: Self-service, interactive widgets reduce complexity
Rihanna can also filter and drill down (by right-clicking on the Sales Manager name) on
any other attribute shown in this dashboard enabling your users the ability to explore their data
more freely and in an ad-hoc fashion. You can also easily pick and choose which widgets a filter
would affect in our low to no code GUI.
Value drivers: Self service access to multiple levels of data
Furthermore, Rihanna may be interested in staying on top of a particular metric for one
of her sales managers so she decides to click on (filter for the top Sales Manager in the chart).
Rihanna wants to be able to stay on top of this manager’s Win Rate % so she decides to add it
to Pulse.
Value drivers: Ability to drive action by alerting, based on manual or AI-driven
thresholds
Pulse is our centralised notification and tracking system enabling your viewers to stay on
top of their most important KPIs - you will notice that you can also seamlessly embed the list of
Alerts (in the Pulse Alerts section).
Here Rihanna has several options in terms of setting an alert condition so she decides to
leverage Sisense’s ML capabilities to automatically detect if there are any anomalies. Hitting
advanced enables her to then add anybody else she thinks should also be subscribed to this
alert, and choose the channel of notification which includes an e-mail, mobile push notification,
slack, zapier, or even attach an external webhook. This provides your users with the ability to
easily stay on top of their most important metrics and to act instantly as soon as important
business events occur.
There are also several other AI-based capabilities that can deliver important insights into
the business. These augmented analytical capabilities can provide your users with more
advanced analytics in a very intuitive manner. Let’s go ahead and clear the filter for Sales
Managers and look at the company holistically.
Looking at our Sales Revenue over Time chart, we can actually leverage Sisense’s
advanced analytics capabilities to forecast into the future what we can expect to close.
Through an intuitive menu interface, by clicking Analyze This -> Forecast, we can also see
further information about the forecast such as the forecast information, and even track the
actuals vs a previous forecast.
Value drivers: Self service advanced analytics
Rihanna can also have Sisense do the work to provide explanations on potential
anomalies or breaking points associated with the closed revenue over time so she decides to hit
the Analyze It button on and clicks on Analyze This -> Explanations.
Value drivers: Self service Insights based on advanced analytics
Here, leveraging Sisense’s advanced AI we’re able to to click on any identified
Anomalies or Breaking Points and provide an explanation on what contributed to the trend. With
Sisense’s advanced AI and ML capabilities your users can spend less time trying to understand
their data, and instead let the analytics be automatically delivered to them. Clicking on this
breaking point on the timeseries gives us several possible explanations (for example, a specific
Account Executive) on the increase/decrease, along with a significance score.
After viewing the time series data, Rihana decides to investigate a bit more the Total
Sales figure. But before she does that, let’s take a look at another important advanced analytics
capability Sisense offers - Exploration paths - by clicking the lightbulb icon when we hover
over the KPI.
Value drivers: Business user can explore new analysis options even if BI team did
not create the visualisation in advance
This unique tool offers Rihana additional exploration ideas that might help her gain more
insights from the KPI (maybe break it down by Country? Or Sales Manager?) without the BI
team needing to create these break downs in advance.
Value drivers: Improve UX by offering multiple “layers” of data without navigating
away from the main Insights page
In order to make more information available to Rihana without requiring her to navigate
away from the page, we are also using the Jump to Dashboard option by clicking on a KPI (e.g.
the Total Sales widget). This opens up, as a modal layer, a drill down into related visualisations,
carrying over all the filters. The value here is that the user stays in your app in a seamless and
intuitive way, and able to explore more and more layers of the data completely by herself.
Value drivers: NLQ allows business users to get answers quickly, even if some of
the questions are not currently represented in the visualisations the BI team has created
You will also notice Rihana is able to use natural language to query the data directly,
even if a dedicated visualisation was not created for her question in advance. Again, giving the
power back to Rihana, instead of her trying to contact the Best CRM app vendor and ask for
new data analysis options. She can also take a look at the AI-driven automated Narratives that
explains, in human-readable English, what the visualisation is showing.
Sisense also has a highly robust governance model enabling you to give users different
roles, apply asset management (who can see what), and even down to granular row-level and
column-level security. This along with our REST API enables you as a company to securely
govern what your users can see in a programmatic fashion. Let’s see an example of this by
logging in as David O’Connor who is one of the sales managers.
Insights (David O’Connor)
Loggin out first (from the Rihanna profile) and logging back in as David O’Connor we can
see that the homepage KPIs have been securely filtered to just his team. This is accomplished
via Row-Level security applied to the underlying semantic data model that this dashboard is
querying. We can see when getting into the insights page that this is more apparent. Instead of
being able to see all of the sales managers like Rihanna, David can only see the individual sales
reps reporting to him and in accordance the rest of the KPIs are only filtered to what he should
see.
Conclusion
In summary we can see how embedding Sisense into your application is able to provide your
company with a much more powerful analytical offering.
From increasing product stickiness by delivering insights directly within your application, to
enhancing the end user experience through Sisense’s augmented analytical features, we can
increase the value of your application through our embedding capabilities. In this realistic
demonstration of embedding we hope you can see how this can potentially create new revenue
streams, reduce the development costs and efforts associated with analytics, and ultimately
impact the value your users receive through the power of Sisense’s embedded analytics.
