Commanding Officer, USS WAYNE E. MEYER (DDG 108)

Commander Bryan Geisert graduated from The University of San


Diego with a B.A. in Chemistry and was commissioned through the
NROTC program in May of 2002.

Sea duty tours include his initial assignment to USS MILIUS (DDG 69),
where he served as Gunnery and Weapons Officer 2002 - 2004. He
subsequently served as Reactor Electrical Division Officer in USS
RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) from 2005 - 2007. He then served in USS
WAYNE E. MEYER (DDG 108) as the Operations Officer where he was
awarded the COMDESRON 21 Junior Officer Award for Excellence in
Tactics. Next he served as the Main Propulsion Assistant in USS
GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73). His time at sea includes four
deployments to the Arabian Gulf and two years of Forward Deployed
Naval Forces.

Ashore, Commander Geisert served as an Officer Instructor at NROTC


San Diego. During that tour, he completed an M.S. in Engineering
Management from Old Dominion University, an M.S. in Global
Leadership from The University of San Diego and his Command and
Staff diploma from the Naval War College. From 2014 – 2016, he was
stationed at Naval Personnel Command in Millington, TN where he
served as the SWO(N) Junior Officer detailer. From 2016 – 2018 he
served as a J5 Planner at the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Milan,
Italy.

Commander Geisert is a trusty Golden Shellback, and holds a variety


of personal, unit and campaign awards.
ITC(IW/SW/AW) Ray Noriega, USN

Chief Noriega, a native of Los Angeles, CA, enlisted in the United


States Navy in June 2004 under the Airman Apprenticeship program.
He obtained his commission in 2020 through the Limited Duty
Officer/Chief Warrant Program as a 7821 (Information Systems
Technician).

Chief Noriega reported to USS WAYNE E. MEYER (DDG 108) in 2018 as


the Combat Communications (CC) Leading Chief Petty Officer. During
his tour, he fulfilled demanding roles as the Information Systems
Security Manager (ISSM) and COMSEC Account Manager. While
serving aboard WAYNE E. MEYER, he led a successful division during
two WESTPAC deployments, a homeport shift, and various unit level
assessments. Additionally, he stepped outside the realm of his scope
of expertise and obtained his Combat Information Center Watch
Officer (CICWO), Antiterrorism Tactical Watch Officer (ATTWO), and
Surface Warfare Coordinator (SUWC) qualifications.

Prior sea duty assignments include Combat Communications Leading


Petty Officer aboard USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53) where he
completed two WESTPAC deployments and various unit level
inspections; Message Center Supervisor for USS RONALD REAGAN
(CVN 76) where he deployed to the ARABIAN GULF in support of
Operation Iraqi Enduring Freedom.

Ashore, Chief Noriega served as an Information Assurance Manager


and Brig Guard at NAVCONBRIG MIRAMAR and Instructor at
Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) San Diego where he
was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer in 2016.

In 2015, he earned his Master’s degree in Human Services and


Counseling through Liberty University, and is qualified as a Master
Training Specialist (MTS) and Afloat Training Specialist (ATS).
Chief Noriega’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation
Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards), Military
Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (4 awards), and various unit and
campaign awards.
