Good afternoon, respected panelists and members of the committee. We are Group [#],
and I am [Your Name], together with my co-researchers [Names]. But to formally start
our presentation, Mr. Alejo will lead a short prayer. Today, we are presenting our final
defense entitled:‘The Peace and Order Situation of Barangay Zone 1, Iba, Zambales.
This study examines the current condition of peace and order in the barangay, focusing
on its implementation, effectiveness, and the role of barangay officials and tanods in
maintaining community safety.
ROXANNE: Introduction
To provide context, peace and order are essential foundations of a stable and
progressive community. A peaceful environment allows residents to live safely, engage in
livelihood, and participate in development.
However, despite existing structures such as the Barangay Peace and Order Committee,
many communities still face challenges related to safety, discipline, and coordination.
In Barangay Zone 1, factors such as socio-economic conditions, youth behavior, and
limited coordination with law enforcement may influence peace and order.
This study was conducted to assess these conditions and provide data-driven
recommendations to improve local governance and community participation.
MARIANNE: Statement of the Problem
The main problem addressed by this study is the need to assess the current peace and
order situation in Barangay Zone 1, Iba, Zambales.
Despite existing policies and ordinances, there is limited localized understanding of:
* The actual status of peace and order
* The effectiveness of implemented rules
* And the efficiency of barangay tanods
Without proper assessment, gaps in implementation and coordination may persist, which
could affect community safety.
This study aims to fill this gap by providing an evidence-based evaluation of the
barangay' s peace and order condition.
RACHEL: Research Objectives
The study aimed to:
First, determine the status of peace and order in the barangay.
Second, assess the level of implementation of rules, regulations, and ordinances.
Third, evaluate the effectiveness of these policies.
And fourth, examine the efficiency of barangay tanods in maintaining peace and order.
These objectives guided the entire research process.
STEVEN: Research Questions
To achieve these objectives, the study sought to answer the following:
1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:
- name, sex, age, civil status, and years of residency
2. What is the status of peace and order in the barangay?
3. What is the level of implementation of rules, regulations, and ordinances relative to
the maintenance of peace and order in the Barangay?
4. What is the degree of effectiveness of these rules, regulations and ordinances?
5. How efficient is the number of barangay tanods in maintaining peace and order within
the Barangay?”
ROXANNE: Literature Review Summary
The literature review showed that peace and order is influenced by governance,
community participation, and law enforcement effectiveness.
Studies from different countries highlight that strong institutions, community policing, and
cooperation between authorities and residents lead to better public safety.
However, gaps still exist in areas such as coordination, training, and resource allocation.
Our study builds on these findings by focusing on the barangay level, providing localized
insights specific to Barangay Zone 1.
JOSE: Research Methodology
This study used a quantitative-descriptive research design. With a total of 120
respondents participated, including:
* 100 residents
* 13 barangay tanods
* 7 barangay officials
Data were collected through a survey questionnaire and analyzed using percentage and
weighted mean. We used percentage distribution to analyze demographic data and
weighted mean to interpret the responses regarding peace and order, implementation
and effectiveness of the rules, regulations and ordinances.
MARIANNE: CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
The input includes the respondents profile and key variables such as the status of peace
and order, implementations and effectiveness of ordinances, and efficiency of barangay
tanods.
The process involves data collection through surveys and analysis using percentage and
weighted mean. The output is the proposed policy recommendations to improve peace
and order in barangay zone 1, Iba, Zambales.
Overall, the IPO model shows how data were gathered, analyzed, and used to develop
practical solutions.
STEVEN: Significance of the Study (explain further from the presentation)
ROXANNE: Findings
Based on the data gathered, the study revealed the following:
First, the overall peace and order status of the barangay is positive, with a weighted
mean of 2.82, interpreted as ‘Agree.’ Residents generally feel safe, especially during the
day.
Second, the level of implementation of rules and ordinances is also effective, with a
weighted mean of 2.85, also interpreted as 'Agree' showing that policies are actively
enforced.
Third, the effectiveness of these ordinances is high, with a weighted mean of 2.88 also
'Agree', particularly in improving peace and security.
Lastly, barangay tanods experience minimal challenges, with an overall rating of 2.11
(Disagree), indicating that they are generally capable of performing their duties.”
RACHEL: Conclusion
Based on the findings of this study, Barangay Zone 1 demonstrates a positive and
effective state of peace and order.
The study highlights that while policies are effective, strengthening collaboration and
enhancing preventive measures can further improve peace and order.
Residents perceive their community as safe, and the implementation of rules and
ordinances is both visible and impactful. This reflects strong governance and active
community participation in maintaining public safety.
These results provide practical insights for barangay officials, law enforcement, and the
community in developing more responsive and sustainable strategies.
JOSE AND STEVEN: Recommendations
Based on the findings, the researchers recommend the following:
1. Strengthen night patrols and street lighting to improve safety.
2. Enhance coordination with police authorities through regular collaboration.
3. Provide training programs for barangay tanods.
4. Increase manpower or community watch programs.
5. Continue information campaigns on rules and regulations.
6. Conduct regular evaluation of policies for continuous improvement.”
