1. Write 4–5 short paragraphs (Introduction, Details, Ending).


2. Use simple past tense when writing about events.
3. Begin with an introduction, then details, then a conclusion.

5. Always check grammar, spelling and punctuation before submitting.

Sample Answer 1: My Best Friend


My best friend is Sarah. We met in Year 3 at school. She is kind and always helps me with
my homework. We like to play badminton and read storybooks together. She is funny and
makes me laugh when I feel sad. I like Sarah because she is loyal, caring and trustworthy. I
hope our friendship will last forever.

Sample Answer 2: A Visit to the Beach


Last Sunday, I went to the beach with my family. The weather was sunny and windy. We
built sandcastles, collected seashells and swam in the sea. My father flew a kite while my
mother prepared sandwiches. I felt very happy because I love the sound of the waves and
the cool breeze. It was one of my best days.

Sample Answer 3: A Picnic at the Park


During the school holidays, my family and I went for a picnic at the park. We brought food,
drinks and a mat. We ate nasi lemak and fried chicken under a big shady tree. After that, we
played Frisbee and cycled around the park. Suddenly, it started to rain but we laughed and
enjoyed the moment. It was a fun day at the park.

Sample Answer 4: My Favourite Teacher


My favourite teacher is Mr. Lim. He teaches English in my class. He is patient and explains
lessons clearly. He often tells us interesting stories to make learning fun. Mr. Lim is also very
kind and always smiles. He encourages me to work hard and never give up. I respect him
very much because he is caring and helpful.
Sample Answer 5: A Trip to the Countryside
Last weekend, I visited my grandmother’s house in the countryside. The air was fresh and
the view was beautiful. I helped my grandmother water the plants and feed the chickens. I
also picked some fresh fruits from the garden. I saw cows and goats grazing in the field. I
enjoyed the peaceful environment. It was a wonderful trip.

Sample Answer 6: A Rainy Day


Yesterday, it rained heavily in the afternoon. I could not go out to play, so I stayed indoors. I
read storybooks, listened to music and helped my mother bake cookies. The sound of the
rain made me feel calm. Although I could not go outside, I still enjoyed my rainy day. It was
relaxing and peaceful.

Sample Answer 7: My Ambition


My ambition is to become a doctor. I want to help sick people and save lives. Doctors are
respected because they work hard to cure patients. To achieve my ambition, I must study
science and work diligently in school. I also need to be caring and responsible. One day, I
hope to wear a white coat and serve people in need.

Sample Answer 8: A Family Celebration


Last month, we celebrated my sister’s birthday at home. My grandparents, uncles, aunts and
cousins came to our house. We decorated the living room with balloons and colourful lights.
My sister cut a big chocolate cake and everyone clapped happily. We played games, ate
delicious food and took photos together. It was a joyful family celebration.

Sample Answer 9: The Day I Felt Proud


The proudest day of my life was when I won first prize in the spelling competition. I had
practised very hard for many weeks. During the competition, I felt nervous but confident.
When the teacher announced my name as the winner, everyone clapped. My parents were
very proud of me. I felt very happy and thankful for their support.

Sample Answer 10: My Favourite Animal


My favourite animal is a cat. I have a pet cat named Milo. He is white and brown with big
green eyes. I like him because he is cute and playful. Milo likes to eat fish and sleep on my
bed. I take care of him by giving him food, clean water and a bath. I love my cat very much.
