Welcome, dear audience, to the world of Shakespeare. Welcome to Denmark a land of royalty,
intrigue, and shadows. Today you will witness the story of a prince, a ghost, and a kingdom in
turmoil. Prepare yourselves for a tale of love, betrayal, madness, and revenge.

SLOWLY YELLOW LIGHT ON STAGE
SOUNDS NIGHT / THUNDER
NARRATOR: (2)
We begin on a dark and bitter night. The castle of Elsinore stands silent except for the steps of
the guards. Something has been seen a figure of pale terror walks the ramparts. Our story begins
here, with fear, suspicion, and the first signs of unrest.

BERNARDO : Who’s there? ( WITH CANDLE )
FRANCISCO : I am Francisco, on duty tonight. ( WITH SWORD)
MARCELLUS : Stand alert the air is cold, the night uneasy. (WITH SWORD)
HORATIO : I have come to see what you have witnessed these past nights.
[A ghostly light appears. KING HAMLET’s ghost slowly entered silently.] ( Sristi slowly
entering the stage)
MARCELLUS & FRANCISCO ( together): The ghost!
BERNARDO ( Rakesh ): By heaven! It is the king!
HORATIO: Stay calm, speak not, observe.
NARRATOR: (3)
The ghost does not speak, yet its presence fills the night with dread. It appears to warn, to reveal
a secret, and to summon Prince Hamlet to action. A kingdom under shadow, a son torn by grief
and duty, and a father murdered by the hand of his own brother.

And so, the ghost vanishes, leaving behind questions, fear, and a call for vengeance that will not
rest. Hamlet will soon encounter this spirit, and the wheels of destiny will begin to turn.
[CLAUDIUS and GERTRUDE seated. Soldiers present.]
SCENE 2: ROYAL COURT
NARRATOR: (5)
Now we enter the royal court of [Link], brother of the dead king, sits on the throne,
married to Queen Gertrude. The court is ceremonial, yet under the surface, tension grows.
Hamlet stands apart, his grief deep, his thoughts dark.

CLAUDIUS : Though we mourn, Denmark must continue.
GERTRUDE : Peace, my love, comfort to all.
EVERYONE : PEACE .
POLONIUS :-My lord, young Hamlet is troubled.
CLAUDIUS: Let him speak, we must understand his grief.
[HAMLET enters, solemn.]
HAMLET: My father is dead… my mother’s marriage too soon. My heart is heavy.
NARRATOR: (6)
The prince’s grief is deep, his soul restless. The ghost has appeared to the guards, hinting at
murder, but Hamlet does not yet know the full truth. Every action here sets in motion the events
that will follow deceit, madness, and the quest for revenge.

SCENE 3:HAMLET MEETS THE GHOST
NARRATOR: (7)
Alone on the battlements, Hamlet meets the ghost. This spirit is his father, murdered in foul play.
The ghost will reveal the crime and demand revenge. Observe carefully, for Hamlet’s choices
begin here. ( GREEN LIGHTS ON )

GHOST: I was murdered by your uncle Claudius, who poured poison in my ear as I slept. Take
revenge, but beware.
HAMLET: I swear, my lord, I will remember.

Sc 4 : POLONIUS AND OPHELIA
NARRATOR: (8)
Hamlet now carries the burden of vengeance. He must pretend madness, observe the guilty, and
act with caution. The path ahead is dark, full of peril and sorrow.
After Hamlet’s ghostly encounter, the prince begins to act strangely. His friends and advisors
notice, and rumors spread.

Here, Polonius worries for his daughter, Ophelia, who is in love with Hamlet. Polonius hopes to
understand Hamlet’s odd behavior through her.
POLONIUS: Ophelia, show him the letters, see what he says.
OPHELIA(Ankita Chowdhury): Yes, father.

NARRATOR: (9)
Ophelia loves Hamlet, but must obey her father. This obedience, though innocent, plants seeds of
tragedy. Meanwhile, Claudius notices Hamlet’s odd behavior and grows uneasy.

Sc 5: HAMLET MEETS OPHELIA
Attendant : My lady Prince Hamlet is here
NARRATOR: (10)
Hamlet now confronts Ophelia. His heart is torn grief, love, and the ghost’s command for
revenge collide within him. Ophelia senses the storm and pleads with him to stop, fearing that
revenge will destroy everything.
MUSIC ( Hamlet and Ophelia)
OPHELIA:
Stop this madness, my lord .. revenge brings nothing but sorrow.
HAMLET : Sorrow ? yes it follows me like shadow , this place it is not right , nothing feels true
anymore
NARRATOR: (11)
At first, Hamlet hesitates, a flicker of tenderness in his eyes. But rage and duty quickly overcome
him. The ghost’s words and his father’s murder dominate his mind.
HAMLET:
I hear him still my father is calling me
No… I must avenge my father! Nothing else matters!
OPHELIA : What about us my lord ? Did that mean nothing ?
HAMLET : Do not ask me that my heart cannot answer
NARRATOR: (12)
He steps forward aggressively, pushing Ophelia. She stumbles, shocked. Her close friend and
attendant quickly moves to help her, steadying her and showing concern.
ATTENDANT
Careful, my lady!
HAMLET : Why do you all look at me like that ? Am I the only one who sees the truth ?
NARRATOR: (13)
Hamlet realizes what he has done. Regret flashes across his face anger has driven him to hurt the
one he once loved. Yet the path of vengeance is fixed; the tragedy has begun.
HAMLET: (softly, almost whisper)
I was not like this before something is wrong inside me
Forgive me… my heart is torn…
OPHELIA: (trembling)
Please… do not let this madness consume you.

Ophelia retreats, shaken but unharmed. Hamlet is left alone, torn between love, anger, and duty.
This brief but intense confrontation marks a turning point: the human heart battered by grief and
the irresistible pull of vengeance.

Sc 6 : HAMLET MEET TWO FRIENDS
[Enter ROSENCRANTZ and GUILDENSTERN.]
NARRATOR: (15)
The king, worried about Hamlet’s strange behavior, has sent two of his childhood friends to
observe him. These are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern once trusted companions, now
instruments of the king’s surveillance. They enter, smiling politely, but their purpose is clear.
ROSENCRANTZ: Hamlet, we’ve come to see why you seem so troubled.
MUSIC ( Hamlet, Op. 32, Act II: Rosencrantz and Guldenstern’s)
GUILDENSTERN :Can we help you, friend?
ROSENCRANTZ : The queen herself is worried for him
GUILDENSTERN:Yes she fears he is losing his mind
HAMLET: I am… thinking. Some things cannot be explained. Thinking or being watched tell
me are you here as friends or as spies
ROSENCRANTZ : we ere your friends Hamlet
HAMLET : Friends do not come with questions sent by king
GUILDENSTERN: we only wish to understand you
HAMLET : then understand this something is rotten here and I cannot escape this .
NARRATOR: (16)
Hamlet speaks with riddles, concealing his true thoughts. His madness is a mask, a strategy to
uncover Claudius’ guilt. Every odd action now builds tension within the court.
[Stage: Garden. Hamlet alone, wind and distant birds.]

NARRATOR: (17)
Now, Hamlet contemplates life, death, and the meaning of action. His mind is heavy, and he
wonders whether living or dying is the braver choice.

Is it better to face life’s pain, or end it and risk the unknown after death?

This soliloquy shows Hamlet’s inner struggle grief, doubt, and fear of action. His mind is at war
with itself, as the stakes of revenge grow higher.

The Mousetrap Play
[Stage: Royal hall. 3 Players performing a short play and dance about a king’s murder.]
NARRATOR: (19)
( Everyone entering the stage )
Now, Hamlet sets the stage for proof. He arranges a short play the “Mousetrap” depicting a
king’s murder by a brother, poisoned while he slept. Watch carefully, for the actors’ cries and
actions reflect the crime, and the guilty will betray themselves.
MESSENGER / ANNOUNCER:
Ladies and gentlemen, people of Denmark!
By command of the royal court, you shall now witness a theatre performance called “The
Mousetrap.”
May this play bring entertainment and honor to our noble king and queen.
(Acting of the murder)

CLAUDIUS: (rising violently)
Stop! I cannot bear this!
Music ( Prologue: Elsinore and
the Court of Claudius )
( Everyone scared and ran away )
GERTRUDE: (startled, softly)
Hamlet… what is this? Why do you make the court tremble?
HAMLET: (turning to audience)
There! You see? The guilty conscience cannot hide. Even the proudest king reveals fear when
confronted with his own deeds.
Hamlet with Horatio left the stage .

Claudius cannot endure the mirror of his crime. Hamlet confirms the murder and plans his next
steps carefully. Observation becomes weapon.
Music : ( claudius prayer )
[Stage: Claudius kneeling, praying.]
CLAUDIUS: I am guilty…

Sc 9 HAMLET MEETS HIS MOTHER QUEEN GERTRUDE
NARRATOR (21)
Hamlet confronts his mother over her hasty marriage. Polonius hides behind a curtain. (
Debosmita entered) Hamlet’s anger explodes, his grief and sense of betrayal driving him to
violence.

HAMLET: Why did you marry my father’s brother so soon? And you forget him so easily?
GERTRUDE: I… I did not think. I was weak. Hamlet do not speak to me so harshly
HAMLET : nothing feels right anymore .
[Hamlet stabs through the curtain, killing Polonius.]
Gertrude shocks and screamed

HAMLET : I thought it was him

This first blood triggers a chain of tragic events. Hamlet’s anger, combined with fate and secrecy,
begins the spiral of death and sorrow.
[Stage: Royal hall. Courtiers whisper, Claudius worried.]

NARRATOR: (23)
( Rosencratnz and Guidenstern, Horatio, Hamlet , Guards, Laertes crying present on stage )
Polonius is dead. The court is in turmoil. Claudius fears for his life, Hamlet’s behavior is more
unpredictable, and Ophelia grieves. All actions now feed into tragedy.
CLAUDIUS: Hamlet is dangerous. He must be sent away.
HAMLET: (aside) I will leave, but I shall return.

Exile seems a punishment, yet it is an opportunity for Hamlet to plan. Meanwhile, Ophelia’s
mind begins to unravel.
SC 10 OPHELIA LEARNS THE TRUTH
[Stage: Ophelia’s chamber. Ophelia sits alone, holding flowers. Night atmosphere.]

NARRATOR: (25)
Before Ophelia knows of her father’s fate, she waits in silence. Her heart is already wounded by
Hamlet’s strange behavior and rejection. Yet she still believes her father will return to her side.
Fate now sends a messenger to break her last hope.
[A WOMAN CHAMBER ATTENDANT enters slowly, hesitant and fearful.]
NARRATOR: (26)
A gentle attendant enters the room, carrying news too heavy for words. Her voice trembles, for
she brings not comfort, but catastrophe.

ATTENDANT (
My lady… your father is dead. Hamlet has slain him.
[Ophelia freezes. Flowers fall from her hands.]
NARRATOR: (27)
The words strike Ophelia like thunder. Her world collapses in one breath. Love has betrayed her,
and now death has taken her father. [Ophelia slowly rises, moving aimlessly.]

[Stage: Riverbank. Soft flowing water sound, flowers floating.]
Sc 11: OPHELIA’S DEATH
NARRATOR: (28)
Ophelia, overwhelmed by despair, wanders to the river. The water rises and takes her. Her body
is found, and Denmark mourns a life ended too soon.
[Sound of water running. Jumping ]

Sc 12: HAMLET WITH SKULL
NARRATOR: (29)
Hamlet returns to Denmark. In a graveyard, he contemplates life, death, and the futility of human
ambition. Here, he finds the skull of Yorick, his childhood jester, reminding him that all men
meet the same end.

SC 12: GRAVEYARD AND FINAL FIGHT
NARRATOR: (30)
The final confrontation unfolds. Revenge, betrayal, and fate collide. Claudius’ poison plot is in
motion. Every choice leads to [Link], aware of Hamlet’s cunning, has devised a deadly
plan. He has poisoned a cup of wine, meant for Hamlet. Every step now leads to tragedy.
Music : (Macbeth, Act III: Tre volte miagola · Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir)
LAERTES: Hamlet! You wronged my family!
HAMLET: If I did, I face the consequence.
CLAUDIUS: Let the duel begin.
[They fight. GERTRUDE drinks poisoned wine by mistake.]
GERTRUDE: My body burns… the wine was poisoned!
[She falls.]
HAMLET: (shocked)
Mother! No!
NARRATOR: (31)
The queen dies by the poisoned wine, intended for Hamlet. Claudius’ treachery is now revealed,
but Hamlet is still alive, though fatally wounded.
[LAERTES and Hamlet wound each other.]
LAERTES: Forgive me, Hamlet… it was the king’s plan.
HAMLET: Claudius… it ends now!
[Hamlet forces Claudius to drink poison. King dies.]
NARRATOR: (32)
The kingdom falls into silence. Hamlet, wounded, reflects on the cost of revenge.
HAMLET (to audience, weak but firm):
Revenge has claimed many lives. I took blood with my own hands. Tell me… is revenge worth
the price?
