Introduction

Greetings, DM-to-be. Thank you for volunteering to participate in

Intyalë’s 2026 DM Mentoring Program. By becoming a DM, you help secure
the future of our beloved club and a chance to improve yourself.

Many a DM has tried and failed to find the “secret to good DM-ing”.
Unfortunately, there is no 3-step solution, no shortcuts, and no guaranteed
successes; all we have to work with is first principles, anecdotes, and
time-tested strategies. That’s what this guide is. A collage of experience,
advice, and ideas, distilled to its core principles and packaged in a
(hopefully) easy-to-digest format.

Our program is divided into three main sections: Worldbuilding,

Storytelling, and Table Management. Each one is essential for running an
engaging and immersive campaign for your party.

The author(s) admit full responsibility for any errors in the text itself.
However, if anything undesirable occurs as a result of implementing the
advice contained within…
…tough luck.

Cheers,
H. Briola & E. Serrano

P.S.: If there is one thing that you absolutely must learn from this guide:
there are no rules. The advice and principles contained here are not
applicable to all situations, and sometimes bending or breaking them
will result in a more enjoyable experience for the party. We trust that
you, the DM, can decide for yourself when that’s the case.
