The society would benefit from a ban on all forms of advertising


because it serves no useful purpose and can be every damaging. Do
you agree or disagree?

2. Prison is the common way in most countries to solve the problem of


crime. However, a more effective solution is to provide people with a
better education. Do you agree or disagree?

3. The role of education is to prepare children for the modern world.


Schools should cut Art and Music out of the curriculum so that children
can focus on useful subjects such as Information Technology. To what
extent do you agree?

4. Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the world is
facing today? What are the causes of global warming and what
measures can governments and individuals take to tackle the issue?

5. Differences between countries become less evident each year.


Nowadays, all over the world people share the same fashions,
advertising, brands, eating habits and Tv channels. Do the advantages
outweigh the disadvantages of this?

6. Some people believe that a taxpayer has done his part as a citizen.
However, others believe that a citizen should assume other
responsibilities. Discuss both views and present your opinion.

7. Despite huge improvements in healthcare, the overall standard of


physical health in many developed countries is now falling. What could
be the reason for this trend, and what can be done to reverse it?

8. Some people think that newly built houses should follow the style of
old houses in local areas. Others think that people should have
freedom to build houses of their own style. Discuss both views and give
your own opinion.

9. Several languages are in danger of extinction because they are spoken


by very small numbers of people. Some people say that governments
should spend public money on saving these languages, while others
believe that would be a waste of money. Discuss both views and give
your opinion.

10. Many countries spend a lot of money preparing competitors to


take part in major sports competitions such as the Olympics, football
World Cup etc. Some people think that it would be better to spend this
money to encourage children to take part in sports at a young age. To
what extent do you agree or disagree?
