CHAPTER 1 – PART 1A (DETAILED – STUDENT WRITING
STYLE)
Topic: A Study on Training & Development and Its Impact on Employee Performance
Organization: Navigant All Solution Finance
In sectors like finance, where accuracy, client interaction, and timely decision-making are
very important, employee performance becomes even more critical. Companies cannot
rely only on hiring skilled employees; they also need to continuously improve their
knowledge and skills. This is where training and development play an important role.
Training is a process through which employees learn specific skills required for their job.
It helps them understand their roles better and perform tasks more efficiently.
Development, on the other hand, is a long-term process that focuses on the overall growth
of employees, preparing them for future roles and responsibilities within the organization.
During my study of Navigant All Solution Finance, I observed that training programs are
used to improve employee efficiency, especially in areas like customer handling,
financial product knowledge, communication skills, and use of digital tools. Employees
who receive proper training are more confident in their work and are able to handle their
responsibilities more effectively.
At the same time, I also noticed that if training is not properly planned or executed, it
may not give the desired results. Some employees may feel that training is not relevant to
their job, or they may not be able to apply what they learned in real work situations.
Therefore, it becomes important to study how training and development actually impact
employee performance.
This study focuses on understanding whether training programs actually help employees
improve their skills, increase productivity, and perform better in their job roles.
To achieve the above aim, the following objectives have been identified:
This study is important from both academic and practical point of view.
From an academic perspective, it helps in understanding how theoretical concepts of
Human Resource Management are applied in real organizations. It gives practical
exposure and helps in developing analytical skills.
From an organizational perspective, the study can help Navigant All Solution Finance to
understand whether their training programs are effective or not. It can also help in
identifying areas where improvements are needed.
From an employee perspective, effective training can lead to better performance, higher
job satisfaction, and career growth opportunities.
The scope of this project defines the boundaries within which the study is conducted.
This project mainly focuses on analyzing the impact of training and development
programs on employee performance within Navigant All Solution Finance.
The study is limited to the employees of the organization and focuses on understanding
how training affects their day-to-day performance.
Practical Scope
Despite these limitations, the study provides useful insights into training and
development practices.
1.3 Selection of Industry / Organization (Detailed &
Realistic)
For the purpose of this project, the financial services industry has been selected. This
industry plays a very important role in the overall economic development of the country
as it deals with managing money, investments, loans, and financial planning for
individuals and businesses.
In recent years, the financial sector in India has seen rapid growth due to increasing
digitalization, rising customer awareness, and the expansion of financial services into
semi-urban and rural areas. With the introduction of online banking, fintech platforms,
and digital payment systems, employees in this sector are required to continuously
upgrade their knowledge and skills.
Because of these changes, training and development have become essential in the
financial industry. Employees must stay updated with:
Without proper training, employees may face difficulties in performing their tasks
effectively, which can directly impact customer satisfaction and business performance.
The reason for selecting this organization is mainly based on practical exposure during
the training period. It provided an opportunity to observe real HR practices, especially in
the area of training and development.
The following reasons influenced the selection of Navigant All Solution Finance:
Communication skills
Customer interaction
Financial product knowledge
Use of internal systems and tools
These training programs help employees perform their tasks more efficiently and
confidently.
The training for this project was conducted over a period of 6 to 8 weeks, which provided
sufficient time to understand the working environment of the organization and study the
training and development practices.
During the training period, I got the opportunity to understand how the organization
functions and how employees are managed. I also observed how training programs are
conducted and how they contribute to employee performance.
The duration of 6–8 weeks was appropriate for this project because:
A shorter duration would not have provided enough exposure, while a longer duration
may not be practical in an academic setting.
During the training period at Navigant All Solution Finance, a structured schedule was
followed to ensure proper understanding of the organization and its working processes.
The training program was divided into different phases so that learning could take place
in a systematic manner.
Instead of directly starting with data collection, the initial days were focused on
understanding the company, its culture, and how different departments function. This
helped in building a strong base before moving to the main topic of training and
development.
In the first two weeks, the main focus was on getting familiar with the organization.
Activities included:
During this phase, I observed how employees interact with each other and how tasks are
assigned and managed. This helped in understanding the work environment.
In this phase, the focus shifted towards the main topic of the project.
Activities included:
I learned that training is not just about teaching employees but also about improving their
overall performance and confidence.
This phase was very important for the project as it involved collecting real data from
employees.
Activities included:
Employees shared their views about training programs, which helped in understanding
whether training was effective or not.
In the final phase, the collected data was analyzed and the report was prepared.
Activities included:
This phase helped in converting observations and data into meaningful conclusions.
The synopsis provides a brief overview of the entire project report. It helps the reader
understand what the report is about and how it is structured.
This project report is divided into different chapters, each focusing on a specific aspect of
the study related to training and development and its impact on employee performance.
CHAPTER 2 – PART 2A
The financial services industry is one of the most important sectors in any economy, as it
plays a key role in managing money, investments, and financial transactions. This
industry includes services such as banking, insurance, investment management, loan
services, and financial consulting. It helps individuals and businesses manage their
finances efficiently and supports economic growth.
In India, the financial services sector has grown rapidly over the past few years. This
growth is mainly due to increasing digitalization, rising awareness among people about
financial planning, and government initiatives promoting financial inclusion. With the
introduction of online banking, mobile wallets, digital payments, and fintech platforms,
the way financial services are delivered has changed significantly.
Today, customers expect fast, accurate, and reliable services. Because of this, companies
in the financial sector must ensure that their employees are well-trained and capable of

to make mistakes.
Navigant All Solution Finance is a service-based financial organization that has been
established with the aim of providing efficient financial solutions to its clients. Over time,
the company has developed its operations by focusing on customer service and employee
performance.
Although the organization may not be very large compared to big financial institutions, it
has created its presence by maintaining service quality and building customer trust.
Growth of the Organization
Initial Stage:
The organization started with basic financial services and a small team of
employees.
Development Stage:
As the company gained experience and clients, it expanded its services and
improved its processes.
Current Stage:
The organization now focuses on providing better service quality and improving
employee performance through training and development.
Employees have played a very important role in the growth of the organization. Their
performance directly affects customer satisfaction and business success.
As the company grew, the need for trained and skilled employees also increased. This
made training and development an essential part of the organization.
Without proper training, it would be difficult for the organization to achieve consistent
growth.
The organizational structure defines how tasks are divided, roles are assigned, and
authority is distributed within the organization. A clear structure helps in smooth
functioning and better coordination among employees.
The organization follows a simple hierarchical structure, which includes different levels
of management and employees.
1. Top Management
This level includes senior executives or owners who are responsible for decision-making
and setting organizational goals.
Planning strategies
Taking important decisions
Managing overall operations
2. Middle Management
This level includes managers and team leaders who act as a link between top
management and employees.
Supervising employees
Implementing company policies
Managing daily operations
Ensuring that targets are achieved
The organizational structure also affects training and development activities. For
example:
This coordination ensures that training programs are effective and aligned with
organizational goals.
The company consists of a team of employees working across different roles such as
customer support, operations, and administrative functions. Even though the size of the
organization is not very large, each employee plays an important role in ensuring smooth
functioning of business activities.
Workforce Size
The organization has a moderate number of employees, which allows better coordination
and communication among team members. In such organizations, employees often
perform multiple roles and responsibilities, which makes training even more important.
Since exact financial data is confidential, the study focuses more on operational
efficiency and employee performance rather than numerical revenue figures.
Operational Capacity
The organization has the capability to handle multiple clients and financial operations
efficiently. This is mainly possible because of:
The operational performance of the company largely depends on how well employees are
trained and how efficiently they perform their tasks.
Navigant All Solution Finance provides various financial services aimed at supporting customers

All the services provided by the company require skilled employees. Without proper
training, employees may not be able to perform their tasks effectively.
2.8 Competitors
The financial services industry is highly competitive, with many companies offering
similar services. Navigant All Solution Finance faces competition from both small local
firms and large financial organizations.
Types of Competitors
1. Direct Competitors
These are companies that provide similar financial services and target the same type of
customers. They operate in the same market and compete directly for clients.

HDFC Bank
ICICI Bank
These organizations have strong market presence, advanced technology, and large
customer bases.
Training and development play a very important role in helping the organization compete
in the market. Well-trained employees can:
Therefore, training is not just a support function but a key factor in gaining competitive
advantage.
3.1 Theoretical Framework (Detailed & Explained Properly)
In every research study, a theoretical framework is important because it provides a base for
understanding the relationship between different concepts. In this project, the main focus is on
understanding how training and development influence employee performance.
In simple words, the theoretical framework of this study is based on the idea that when
employees are given proper training, their knowledge and skills improve, which leads to better
performance. This improved performance ultimately helps the organization in achieving its
goals.
This shows that training acts as an input, which improves employee abilities, and these improved
abilities result in better output.
For example, in a financial organization like Navigant All Solution Finance, training may
include:
Development is a long-term process that focuses on the overall growth of employees. It prepares
employees for future roles and responsibilities.
Leadership training
Personality development
Decision-making skills
Problem-solving techniques
While training focuses on present job roles, development prepares employees for future growth
within the organization.
Employee performance refers to how well an employee performs their assigned tasks. It is an
important factor for the success of any organization.
Quality of work
Speed and efficiency
Accuracy in tasks
Behavior and attitude towards work
Employees who perform well contribute to higher productivity and better customer satisfaction.
Link Between Training and Performance
Training and development have a direct impact on employee performance. When employees
receive proper training:
This clearly shows that training is an important factor in improving employee performance.
There are several theories that support the relationship between training and employee
performance. These theories help in understanding why training is important in organizations.
According to this theory, employees are considered valuable assets of the organization. When an
organization invests in training, it is actually investing in its employees.
2. Learning Theory
Learning theory explains how employees acquire knowledge and skills through training. It
focuses on the process of learning and how people understand new information.
Training programs are designed based on this theory so that employees can:
Learn easily
Practice what they learn
Apply knowledge in real work situations
3. Motivation Theory
Training also plays an important role in motivating employees. When employees are given
opportunities to learn and grow, they feel valued.
Motivated employees:
This theory focuses on improving employee performance through different methods, including
training.
It suggests that performance can be improved by:
All these theories support the idea that training and development are essential for improving
employee performance.
In the context of Navigant All Solution Finance, these theories help in understanding:
The review of literature is an important part of any research project because it helps in
understanding what previous researchers have studied about the topic. It also helps in identifying
gaps and building a strong base for the current study.
In this project, various studies related to training and development and employee performance
have been reviewed. Most of the researchers have found that training plays a significant role in
improving employee skills, productivity, and overall organizational performance.
Study 1: Impact of Training on Employee Performance
Many researchers have found that training has a direct positive impact on employee
performance. According to different studies, employees who receive proper training are able to
perform their tasks more efficiently and make fewer mistakes.
It has been observed that organizations that invest in employee training experience higher
productivity compared to those that do not focus on training.
Another important area studied by researchers is the relationship between training and employee
satisfaction.
Employees feel more valued when they are given training opportunities
Training increases job satisfaction
Satisfied employees perform better and stay longer in the organization
This shows that training not only improves skills but also affects the emotional and
psychological state of employees.
This clearly shows that training is not just beneficial for employees but also for the organization
as a whole.
Some researchers have highlighted the importance of continuous training rather than one-time
training.
In industries like finance, where rules and technologies keep changing, continuous training
becomes very important.
While training is important, some studies have also pointed out challenges such as:
These challenges can reduce the effectiveness of training programs if not addressed properly.
This analysis supports the objective of this project, which is to study the impact of training and
development on employee performance.
Even though many studies have been conducted on training and development, there are still
some gaps:
Most studies focus on large organizations, while small organizations are less studied
Limited research is available on financial service companies like Navigant All Solution Finance
Some studies focus only on training, not on employee perception
This project aims to fill these gaps by studying training and its impact on employee performance
in a real organizational setting.
In addition to theories, there are some important models that help in understanding how training
and development programs are designed and implemented in organizations. These models
provide a structured approach to training and ensure that it is effective.
The training process model explains the step-by-step procedure followed while conducting
training programs in an organization.
In this stage, the organization identifies which employees need training and what type of training
is required. This is usually based on performance gaps or skill requirements.
After identifying the need, the training program is designed. This includes deciding the content,
method, duration, and objectives of the training.
c) Implementation of Training
In this stage, the training is actually conducted. It can be in the form of workshops, online
sessions, or practical demonstrations.
d) Evaluation of Training
After training, it is important to evaluate whether the training was effective. This is done by
measuring employee performance and collecting feedback.
This model helps organizations ensure that training programs are properly planned and executed.
This is one of the most widely used models for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
Level 1: Reaction
Measures how employees feel about the training (feedback, satisfaction)
Level 2: Learning
Measures what employees have learned from the training
Level 3: Behavior
Measures whether employees are applying what they learned in their job
Level 4: Results
Measures the final impact on organizational performance
This model is useful because it not only checks learning but also focuses on actual performance
improvement.
3. ADDIE Model
The ADDIE model is another important framework used for designing training programs.
Training and development are essential for both employees and organizations. In today’s
competitive environment, companies cannot survive without skilled employees.
Employees who are well-trained feel more comfortable in their roles and perform better.
Training also helps organizations adapt to changes in technology and market conditions.
Employees need proper skills and knowledge to perform their tasks effectively. Training helps in
improving these skills.
2. Motivation
Motivated employees perform better. Training programs can increase motivation by making
employees feel valued.
3. Work Environment
Good leadership helps employees perform efficiently by providing guidance and support.
Training is one of the most important factors that directly affect performance.
This chapter focused on the theoretical background and concepts related to training and
development and their impact on employee performance.
The study of various theories and models shows that training plays a very important role in
improving employee skills, knowledge, and overall performance. Models like the Training
Process Model, Kirkpatrick Model, and ADDIE Model provide a structured approach for
designing and evaluating training programs.
This chapter provides a strong theoretical base for the next chapter, which focuses on research
methodology.
4.1 Objectives of the Study
Every research study is conducted with a clear purpose, and objectives help in defining what the
researcher wants to achieve. In this project, the main aim is to understand how training and
development programs influence the performance of employees. In a service-based organization
like Navigant All Solution Finance, employees are directly involved in handling customers and
financial processes, so their performance plays a very important role in the success of the
organization.
The primary objective of this study is to analyze whether training and development activities
help employees improve their efficiency, accuracy, and overall work performance. It focuses on
understanding whether employees are able to apply the knowledge and skills gained during
training in their actual job roles. This is important because sometimes training programs are
conducted, but they may not lead to real improvement in performance.
Apart from the main objective, this study also includes some additional objectives to get a deeper
understanding of the topic. One of the important objectives is to understand the different types of
training methods used in the organization. This includes observing whether the company uses
practical training, on-the-job learning, or system-based training. Another objective is to evaluate
the effectiveness of these training programs, meaning whether employees find them useful and
relevant to their work.
The study also aims to understand employee perception towards training. Employee opinion is
very important because even a well-designed training program may not be effective if employees
are not interested or motivated. Therefore, this project tries to find out whether employees feel
that training is helpful or just a formal activity.
Another objective is to identify any problems or gaps in the training programs. Sometimes
training may not be effective due to lack of proper planning, limited time, or poor
communication. Identifying these issues helps in suggesting improvements. Finally, the study
aims to provide suggestions to improve training practices so that both employees and the
organization can benefit.
4.2 Method of Research
The research method explains how the study is conducted and how information is collected. In
this project, a practical and simple approach has been used to collect data and understand the
topic properly. The study is based on both primary data and secondary data, which helps in
making the research more complete and reliable.
Primary data refers to the information that is collected directly from the employees of the
organization. This type of data is very important because it reflects real experiences and opinions
of the employees. In this study, primary data was collected through questionnaires, informal
discussions, and observation during the training period. Employees were asked simple and clear
questions related to training programs and their impact on performance. Informal discussions
also helped in understanding their views in a better way.
Observation was another useful method in this study. By observing employees during their work
and training sessions, it was possible to understand how training affects their performance in real
situations. This method helped in getting practical insights that cannot always be captured
through questionnaires alone.
Secondary data, on the other hand, refers to the information that is already available from
different sources. This includes books, research articles, and online resources related to training
and development. Secondary data helps in understanding the theoretical background of the topic
and supports the findings of the study.
Both primary and secondary data are important for this research. Primary data provides real and
current information, while secondary data provides theoretical support. Using both types of data
makes the study more balanced and meaningful.
This type of research is suitable because the study does not involve any experiments or changes
in the training process. Instead, it focuses on observing existing practices and collecting
employee feedback. The aim is to understand what is happening in the organization and how
employees feel about it.
Descriptive research helps in providing a clear picture of the current situation. It allows the
researcher to collect information about employee opinions, training methods, and performance
levels. This information is then analyzed to understand the relationship between training and
performance.
In this project, descriptive research is combined with simple analysis to interpret the data
collected from employees. This makes the study practical and easy to understand. It also helps in
identifying whether training programs are effective or if there is a need for improvement.
In any research study, the type of data used plays a very important role because it directly affects
the quality and reliability of the results. In this project, both primary data and secondary data
have been used so that the study becomes more practical as well as theoretically strong.
Primary data refers to the information that is collected directly from the original source for the
specific purpose of the study. In this project, primary data has been collected from the employees
of Navigant All Solution Finance. This type of data is very useful because it reflects the real
opinions, experiences, and understanding of employees regarding training and development
programs.
The primary data collected in this study mainly focuses on how employees feel about the training
programs conducted in the organization, whether they find them useful, and whether these
programs actually help them improve their performance. Since this information comes directly
from employees, it gives a clear picture of the actual situation inside the organization.
On the other hand, secondary data refers to the information that is already available from
different sources and is collected for general purposes. In this study, secondary data has been
collected from books related to human resource management, research papers, articles, and
online sources. This data helps in understanding the basic concepts of training and development,
different theories, and previous studies related to the topic.
Using both primary and secondary data makes the research more effective. Primary data provides
real and practical insights, while secondary data provides theoretical support. Together, they help
in creating a balanced and well-structured study.
Data collection tools are the methods or techniques used to gather information for the research.
In this project, the main tool used for collecting data is a structured questionnaire, along with
informal discussions and observation.
The questionnaire is one of the most commonly used tools in research because it allows the
researcher to collect information from a large number of respondents in a simple and organized
way. In this study, a questionnaire was prepared with simple and easy-to-understand questions so
that employees could respond without any confusion.
The questions were mainly focused on understanding different aspects of training and
development. Employees were asked whether they had attended any training programs, what
type of training they received, and whether they felt that the training helped them improve their
performance. Questions were also included to understand their level of satisfaction and whether
they faced any problems during training.
Apart from the questionnaire, informal discussions were also used as a data collection method.
This method helped in getting more detailed responses from employees. Sometimes employees
feel more comfortable sharing their opinions during a conversation rather than writing them in a
questionnaire. These discussions provided deeper insights into their experiences and views about
training programs.
Observation was another important tool used in this study. By observing employees during their
work and training sessions, it was possible to understand their behavior, performance, and level
of involvement. Observation helped in identifying whether employees were actually applying
what they learned during training in their daily work.
The use of multiple data collection tools made the study more reliable. While the questionnaire
provided structured data, discussions and observation helped in understanding the situation in a
more practical and detailed manner.
Sampling is an important part of any research because it is not always possible to collect data
from all employees in the organization. Therefore, a small group of employees is selected to
represent the entire population. This selected group is called a sample.
In this study, a simple and practical sampling method has been used. The sampling method used
is convenience sampling. This means that data was collected from employees who were easily
available and willing to participate in the study. This method is commonly used in student
projects because it is simple, quick, and easy to manage.
The sample size for this study consists of approximately 30 to 50 employees of Navigant All
Solution Finance. This number is sufficient to get a general understanding of employee opinions
and experiences. A moderate sample size helps in collecting enough data for analysis without
making the process too complex.
The sampling unit in this study is the employees of the organization. These employees belong to
different roles and departments, which helps in getting diverse responses. Including employees
from different backgrounds ensures that the study is more balanced and provides a broader
understanding of training practices.
The sampling plan used in this study is suitable because it saves time and effort while still
providing useful information. Although it may not represent the entire population perfectly, it
gives a fair idea about the effectiveness of training programs in the organization.
After collecting data from employees, the next important step is to analyze it in a proper way so
that meaningful conclusions can be drawn. Data analysis helps in converting raw information
into useful insights. In this project, simple and easy methods have been used for data analysis so
that the results can be clearly understood.
The main method used in this study is the percentage method. In this method, responses given by
employees are converted into percentages. This makes it easier to understand how many
employees agree or disagree with a particular statement. For example, if most employees say that
training has improved their performance, it can be shown clearly in percentage form. This
method is simple and very effective for student-level research.
In addition to percentages, data has also been presented using tables. Tables help in organizing
information in a structured way, making it easier to read and compare responses. By arranging
data in rows and columns, it becomes simple to identify patterns and trends in employee
responses.
Charts such as bar graphs and pie charts can also be used to represent data visually. These charts
make the data more attractive and easy to understand. For example, a pie chart can show the
percentage of employees who are satisfied with training, while a bar graph can compare different
responses.
The reason for using simple analysis techniques in this project is that they are easy to understand
and suitable for academic purposes. Complex statistical tools are not necessary for this type of
study, as the focus is on understanding general trends and employee opinions.
Overall, the data analysis techniques used in this study help in clearly presenting the findings and
making it easier to interpret the results.
The questionnaire is one of the most important tools used in this study. It helps in collecting
direct information from employees regarding training and development programs. The
questionnaire used in this project was simple, clear, and easy to understand so that employees
could respond without any difficulty.
The questions were designed in such a way that they cover all important aspects of training and
employee performance. These include employee participation in training programs, their level of
satisfaction, and the impact of training on their work performance.
Before distributing the questionnaire, care was taken to ensure that the questions were relevant to
the objectives of the study. The questions were mostly close-ended, which means employees had
to choose from given options. This made it easier to analyze the responses.
At the same time, a few open-ended questions were also included so that employees could give
their suggestions and share their personal views. This helped in getting more detailed and
meaningful information.
