IN – SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
An INSET NARRTIVE Report-
February 28, March 7, 14, and 2026
Pursuant to the directive of the school administration, the In-Service Training (INSET) for
Teachers of Bayanga National High School was successfully conducted on February 28,
March 7, and March 14, 2026, within the school premises. The activity aimed to enhance
teachers’ competencies, strengthen curriculum implementation, and introduce innovative and
effective teaching strategies aligned with the standards and goals of the Department of
Education.
All teachers were encouraged to actively participate in the said activity and apply the
knowledge and skills gained to improve classroom instruction and overall educational
outcomes. The training served as a platform for collaboration, professional growth, and
continuous learning among educators.
I actively participated in the entire duration of the INSET as the assigned Sound System
Operator and Technical Support. My responsibilities included preparing and managing the
audio-visual equipment, ensuring that microphones, speakers, and presentation materials
functioned properly throughout each session. I made sure that all technical aspects were well-
organized so that the speakers could effectively deliver their presentations without
interruption.
Despite my technical role, I made it a point to listen very attentively to each discussion and
fully engage myself in the learning process. I focused on understanding the key concepts
presented by the speakers and reflected on how these can be applied in real teaching
situations. Through this experience, I can confidently say that I learned a lot from the
INSET, not only in terms of technical skills but also in pedagogy, curriculum development,
and professional values.

The first session featured a seminar-workshop entitled “AI-Enhanced Tools for Teachers:
Mastering Prompt Engineering for Teachers”, conducted by Mr. Mark Labajan, ICT
Coordinator/Teacher II from Iponan National High School. The session introduced the use of
artificial intelligence in education, particularly in lesson planning, content creation, and
assessment. The speaker demonstrated how prompt engineering can be used to maximize the
efficiency of AI tools. I listened carefully and realized the importance of integrating modern
technology into teaching practices to make learning more effective and engaging.
The second session focused on “From Standards to Practice: Advancing Teachers’
Competencies in Guiding PPST Indicators 3.1.2, 4.1.2, and 5.1.2”, conducted by Mr.
Adel R. Carambangay, a Mathematics expert and School Head of Indahag National High
School. The discussion emphasized aligning teaching practices with the Philippine
Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). This session helped deepen my understanding of
how standards can be applied in actual classroom settings, and I learned the importance of
continuous professional improvement.
This was followed by a session on Teaching Strategies and Pedagogy in the Field of
English, conducted by Ms. Pinky Dela Calzada, an English teacher from Bugo National
High School. She shared various effective teaching strategies that promote student
engagement, comprehension, and communication skills. I listened attentively and gained
insights into how to make lessons more interactive and learner-centered.
In the afternoon, Mrs. Leonor Reyes, a Filipino teacher from Bayanga National High
School, discussed “Makabagong Progresyon sa Gramatika.” She presented modern
approaches to teaching Filipino grammar, making it more relevant and easier for students to
understand. Her discussion emphasized innovation in teaching traditional concepts, which I
found very informative and practical.
The third session was facilitated by Mr. Arven Garcines, School Head of Magayad
Integrated School, who discussed the Revised K to 10 Curriculum. He explained the
updates and improvements in the curriculum and how these changes aim to better address the
needs of learners in today’s educational landscape. I listened very carefully and learned the
importance of adapting to curriculum changes.
This was followed by a presentation from Mr. Cielito G. Estoque, School Head of Bayanga
National High School, on Strengthening the Curriculum. He emphasized the need for
effective implementation and continuous evaluation of the curriculum to ensure quality
education.
Mrs. Leonor Reyes continued the discussion by further elaborating on strategies related to
curriculum strengthening. The final topic discussed was the Code of Ethics for Teachers,
presented by Mr. Estoque. This session highlighted the importance of professionalism,
integrity, accountability, and ethical behavior in the teaching profession. I paid close attention
during this discussion and realized that being an educator requires not only knowledge and
skills but also strong moral values and dedication.

Overall, the INSET 2026 was a highly successful and meaningful activity that contributed
significantly to the professional growth and development of teachers. It provided valuable
knowledge, practical strategies, and important reminders about the responsibilities of
educators.
As the assigned Sound System Operator and Technical Support, I was able to contribute
to the smooth flow of the program while also gaining valuable insights from the sessions. I
ensured that all technical aspects were properly handled, and at the same time, I made an
effort to listen very well and absorb all the learnings shared by the speakers.
In conclusion, the INSET experience was both productive and inspiring. I truly learned a lot
from this training, and I am motivated to apply these learnings in future teaching practices
and professional responsibilities. This activity strengthened my understanding of education
and encouraged me to continuously improve and grow as an educator.
