HARDWARE ENCRYPTION MODULE
A hardware security
module (HSM) is a
physical computing device
that safeguards and
manages digital keys,
performs encryption and
decryption functions for
digital signatures, strong
authentication and other
cryptographic functions.
HARDWARE ENCRYPTION MODULE
• Keep your keys in tamper proof box
• Protect the keys from memory scraping
• Protect the keys from thefts

HARDWARE ENCRYPTION MODULE-Mobile
App
• For keeping private keys- Android keystore
system.
• The Android Keystore system can store
cryptographic keys in a container to make it
more difficult to extract from the
device(HEM).
Mobile App Crypto Keystore system
• Once keys are in the keystore, they can be
used for cryptographic operations with the key
material.
• It offers facilities to restrict when and how
keys can be used, such as requiring user
authentication for key use.
Technology Details
• Android 9 (API level 28) - StrongBox Keymaster
• KeyChain API –use system wide credentials.
• AndroidKeyStore - registered as a KeyStore
