LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF THE MUSLIM STUDENTS ASSOCIATION AT PLFC

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Student organizations play a vital role in the holistic development of learners in educational
institutions. Through participation in student organizations, learners are provided with opportunities to
enhance leadership skills, develop social responsibility, strengthen moral values, and foster a sense of
belonging within the academic community. These organizations serve as platforms for students to
express their interests, represent their beliefs, and engage in meaningful activities that contribute to
personal and academic growth.

One such organization is the Muslim Students Association (MSA), which is established to support the
spiritual, cultural, academic, and social needs of Muslim students. The MSA aims to promote Islamic
values, encourage unity among Muslim learners, and create an environment of mutual respect and
understanding among students of diverse backgrounds. Through religious gatherings, educational
discussions, cultural activities, and outreach programs, the organization seeks to strengthen faith,
enhance awareness of Islamic culture, and contribute positively to the school community.

At PLFC, the Muslim Students Association conducts various activities intended to enrich students’
religious and social lives. These include prayer meetings, seminars, cultural celebrations, and community
service initiatives. Despite the availability of these programs, their effectiveness depends largely on the
level of awareness of students regarding the organization’s existence, objectives, and activities. Students
who are not well-informed may fail to participate, resulting in limited engagement and reduced
organizational impact.

Observations indicate that some students have limited knowledge about the Muslim Students
Association, including its purpose, programs, and membership opportunities. This lack of awareness may
hinder the organization’s ability to reach its goals and fully serve the student population. Hence, it is
necessary to assess the level of awareness of students regarding the MSA in order to identify gaps in
information dissemination and student engagement. This study aims to determine the level of
awareness of the Muslim Students Association at PLFC and provide insights that may help improve its
visibility and effectiveness.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the level of awareness of students regarding the Muslim Students
Association at PLFC.

Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

age,

gender, and

year level?

2. What is the level of awareness of students regarding the Muslim Students Association at PLFC in
terms of:

purpose and objectives,activities and programs, and membership and participation?

3. Is there a significant difference in the level of awareness of students when grouped according to their
demographic profile?

Null Hypothesis

There is no significant difference in the level of awareness of students regarding the Muslim
Students Association at PLFC when grouped according to their demographic profile.

Significance of the Study


The findings of this study may be beneficial to various stakeholders:

To the Students. The results may help students become more informed about the existence, objectives,
and activities of the Muslim Students Association, encouraging participation and involvement.

To the MSA Officers. The findings may guide officers in improving their programs, communication
strategies, and outreach efforts.

To the School Administrators. The study may serve as a basis for policy-making and institutional support
for student organizations.

To the Future Researchers. This research may serve as a reference for future studies related to student
awareness, student organizations, and campus involvement.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This study focuses on determining the level of awareness of students regarding the Muslim
Students Association at PLFC during the School Year 2025–2026. The respondents are limited to selected
students of PLFC. The study does not include other student organizations or institutions and is confined
to awareness-related variables only.

Definition of Terms

Awareness. The extent to which students are informed about the existence, purpose, and activities
of the Muslim Students Association.

Muslim Students Association (MSA). A student organization at PLFC that promotes religious, cultural,
and social activities among Muslim students.

Respondents. The students of PLFC who participated in the study.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter presents a review of related literature and studies that provide theoretical and empirical
foundations for the present research. It discusses concepts related to student awareness, student
organizations, and previous studies relevant to the Muslim Students Association.

A. Related Literature

Literature on student organizations highlights their importance in shaping students’ personal,


social, and moral development. Student organizations provide avenues for leadership training, peer
interaction, and cultural expression. Awareness is a critical factor influencing student participation, as
informed students are more likely to engage in organizational activities.

Religious and cultural organizations, such as Muslim Students Associations, play a significant role in
fostering spiritual growth and cultural identity. Studies emphasize that effective communication,
promotion, and institutional support are essential in increasing students’ awareness and involvement.
When students are aware of an organization’s purpose and activities, they are more inclined to
participate and contribute meaningfully.

B. Review of Related Studies

Several local and foreign studies have examined students’ awareness of school organizations and
its impact on participation and engagement. Findings consistently show that higher levels of awareness
are associated with increased participation and positive perceptions of student organizations. Other
studies indicate that lack of awareness remains a major barrier to student involvement.

These studies support the need to assess students’ awareness levels to improve organizational
effectiveness and ensure that programs reach their intended beneficiaries.

CHAPTER III

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY


This chapter presents the research design, research locale, research respondents, research instrument,
data gathering procedure, and statistical treatment of the data.

Research Design

The study employs a descriptive-survey research design to determine the level of awareness of
students regarding the Muslim Students Association at PLFC. This design is appropriate for describing
existing conditions and analyzing relationships among variables.

Research Locale

The study is conducted at PLFC during the School Year 2025–2026.

Research Respondents

The respondents consist of selected students of PLFC. Purposive sampling is used to ensure that
respondents are relevant to the objectives of the study.

Research Instrument

The primary research instrument is a researcher-made questionnaire designed to measure


students’ level of awareness of the Muslim Students Association. The instrument is validated by experts
prior to administration.

Data Gathering Procedure

Permission is obtained from the school administration before conducting the study. The
questionnaire is distributed to the selected respondents. After retrieval, responses are organized, tallied,
and prepared for statistical analysis.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The data gathered are analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, and
weighted mean. Inferential statistics, including the t-test or chi-square test, are used to determine
significant differences in awareness levels.
