9d Assembly Script

The document outlines a presentation on human evolution, detailing the lineage from microorganisms to Homo sapiens and the development of traits over millions of years. It discusses the significance of tools, fire, and art in the evolution of hominins, as well as the physical diversities among human populations. The presentation also highlights the importance of fossils and art in understanding ancient life, with references to archaeological sites like the Bhimbetka caves in India.

 We feel that Humans have always been the way we see them around us and in the
Renaissance Art. But that is not the truth.
 Microorganisms, Reptiles, Dinosaurs, Rats, Apes, Bonobos, Hominins and then, finally, us –
The Homo Sapiens or Humans.

Slide 9 –

Evolution is the process by which animals, plants, and other living organisms are transformed into
different forms by the accumulation of changes over generations.

In simpler words, it is the gradual development of something.

Slide 10 - Video

Slide 11 –

Human DNA was made by combining the features of bonobos, chimpanzees and neanderthals - 96-
99% -bonobos and chimpanzees and 1-4% - neanderthals

The trait of walking came from the Australopithecus afarensis. They were small monkeys but were
capable of walking two of their legs.

As they evolved, The Homo Erectus came who were capable of walking long distances and had a
structure very much similar to humans. They were the first ones to migrate in the world.

Around 300,000 years ago, we arrived in the scene. A different, one of our kind. With minds
developed 3 times stronger and bigger brains, we were able to learn from all hominins about life.
Our learning capability was what lead us to stay here while the other species went extinct over
40,000 years ago.

Slide 12-

Around 3 million years ago, our ancestors were starting to make tools and weapons to hunt food and
protect themselves from all sorts of wild predators.

Then, as time passed, we were capable of making fire and cooking food. That was when the
development of mind speeded.

Hominins started doing art, creating traditions and having symbolic conversations with each other.

This is the timeline which has been derived by researchers, showing the development of life on
Earth.

This has been divided into 3 eras – The Mesozoic, Cenozoic, and Quaternary.

Mesozoic comprised of the dinosaurs and ended with the mass extinction after an asteroid hit the
Earth tremendously.

The Cenozoic started much later with the occurrence of small mammals, which developed later into
different animals and apes. The end of this was followed by the start of the Quaternary, with the
occurrence of a new species – The Hominins.

Their minds were a bit more developed and the main trait was that – Their heads were on the top of
their spine, unlike gorillas and other 4-limbed mammals.

Slide 14-

How do we know about the lives and traditions of the older species?

This is an question which always comes in our mind. We get to know about life thousands of years
ago using the art and fossils.

Late Hominins, such as Neanderthals and Homo Naledi, would bury their loved ones and draw art,
depicting their lifestyle and traditions.

Slide 15-

Not just in other countries, such evidences have been found in India as well. One major evidence is
the Bhimbetka caves, where art works like that in the Lascaux caves. Here, we can see some pictures
our class teacher captured during her trip to Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, Madhya Pradesh.

We have prepared a short skit with the help of which, we would like to describe the Physical
Diversities in the world.

Slide 17 –

• Every region has people with different physical traits. Different hair colour, skin colour,
features and body shape.

• . While the south east Asians are thin and pale with small eyes, the southern Asians are
slightly heavier with warmer skin tones and much bolder eyes

• In quite a similar way, Hominins differed from each other. Some were tall, some were short,
and some were physically weaker, leading them to be easy prey for predators of all sorts

• This diversity is what makes us different from each other.

Slide 18 –

Palaeontologists have found more than 20 hominin species that existed together in the past, yet the
exact number of species from which we might have descended remains unknown.

No one knows who came and evolved first, but one thing is confirmed—it is a vast topic with many
mysteries and secrets.
We are not even 1 % of life history on earth. What lies behind us, millions of years ago, is unknown.
