INDRODUCTION
Family and friends, we gather here today with heavy hearts yet thankful spirits to honour and
celebrate the life of the late Mama Faith Makokha. Her life was a testimony, faith, resilience, wisdom
and strength. Apostle Paul’s words in 2nd Tim 4:7 summarizes her journey perfectly. ‘ I have fought a
good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Truly, Mama Faith fought her battles with
good courage, finished her race with dignity and kept her faith in God till her last breath.
EARLY LIFE
The late Mama Faith Norah Auma Makokha was born to the late Mr. Jeremiah Masiga and the late
Mama Miriam Ojanjo on 17th February 1934 at Butenge, Lunyo Busia Uganda. Her siblings were: The
late Milka Makio, Agatha Wanyama, Betty Kakembo and the late David Mbakulo of the Batabona
clan in Uganda.
CHRISTIAN LIFE
The late Faith was baptized in 1934 in the Anglican church of Uganda and was confirmed later in the
same church. She continued serving in the church throughout her life and rose to the position of
evangelist while at All Saints Mungatsi. Later she joined Ecumenical Catholic Church of Christ where
she dedicated her life to Christ till her final day.
EDUCATION
Faith was enrolled at Nagongera Protestant Primary School Budama, Tororo Uganda in 1944. She
relocated to Kisoko mixed boarding Primary School where she studied up to standard six. She
completed her primary education at Lumino Primary School. She joined Ebutangasi Secondary
School where she studied up to form 2.
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
Mama Faith married the late Hon. Christopher Makokha of Abaguri clan in a colourful wedding
ceremony in the church of Uganda at Busia. She was a beloved mother to the late Benard , the late
Pamela, the late Peter, Beatrice, Elizabeth, Naomi, Simon, Lydia, the late Masiga, Kenneth, Abraham,
Jeremia and Everlyne. Daughter-in-law to the late senior chief Hezekia Wamurwa Okwara and Mama
Irene Anyangu (Nakhone). Her daughters-in-law were Winfrida, Margret, Jentrix, Judith and
Carolyne. She was grandmother and great grandmother to many.
SOCIAL LIFE
The late Mama Faith Norah Auma Makokha was a generous and a social lady who valued
relationships and the community. She was well known for her hospitality and kindness to both the
family, neighbors and strangers. Her home was always open to visitors. She often shared what she
had with those in need. Her laughter and cheerful spirit brought life to every occasion she attended.
Mama’s social life reflected her love for people and her desire to see others happy. She will be
remembered for her warmth, generosity and strong bonds she built within her family and
community.
HEALTH
The late Faith enjoyed a good healthy life all through her life until the year 2023. On 5 th December,
2023 she was taken to Zion Medical Centre in Bungoma and diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure
(AFIB). She was put on medication and responded well. On 8th January 2024, she was taken back to
Zion Medical Centre for check-up. On examination the doctor not only noted tremendous
improvement, but also realized a new problem with her joints especially knees. She had developed
Arthritis due to her advanced age. She was put on treatment. On 13th April 2024 she was taken back
to the same doctor for observation. This time besides the previous complication, sha had developed
a kidney complication. Further in July 2024 she attended a check-up still at Zion Medical Centre. The
doctor noted great improvement and she was asked to continue with medication. On 13 th August
2025 her health deteriorated and she was taken to Hospital again. The doctor prescribed her
medication. This time her health deteriorated further, she could not walk lost appetite and could not
feed on sold food. On 6th October 2025 at 3:00 PM she inheld her last breath.
