Draft Resolution 84

Sponsor: United States of America, Republic of Korea

Signatories: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, French


Republic, Republic of China, Republic of Cuba, Republic of Ecuador, Japan,
Kingdom of Egypt, Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, Dominion of Canada

The Security Council,

Having determined that the armed attack upon the Republic of Korea by forces
from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea constitutes a breach of peace,

Having recommended that Members of the United Nations furnish such


assistance to the Republic of Korea as may be necessary to repel the armed
attack and to restore international peace and security in the area,

Acknowledging the Government of the Republic of Korea as the authority


exercising effective control and representing the Korean people under the
principles of the United Nations Charter,

1) Recommends that all Members providing military forces and assistance in


support of the Republic of Korea make such forces available to a unified
command under the United States of America, to ensure coordinated and
effective military operations;

2) Requests the United States of America to designate the commander of the


unified forces and to exercise direction and coordination of all military efforts
undertaken in response to aggression against the Republic of Korea;

3) Authorizes the unified command to undertake necessary and proportionate


measures to restore peace and security in the Korean Peninsula, and to prevent
the expansion or recurrence of hostilities, consistent with the purposes of the
United Nations;

4) Authorizes the unified command at its discretion to use the United Nations flag
in the course of operations against North Korean forces concurrently with the
flags of the various nations participating;
5) Encourages all Member States in a position to do so to provide military forces
as well as material, logistical, and medical assistance as required by the unified
command;

6) Reccomends all Member States to provide aid of military, economic and


diplomatic nature to the Republic of Korea to support their defensive measures;

7) Urges all States to refrain from providing assistance to the Democratic


People’s Republic of Korea and to support efforts aimed at the restoration of
lawful governance and peace in the region.
