The Entire Normal Ranges

The document outlines normal ranges for various blood and urine tests, including fasting blood glucose, renal profile, total serum proteins, lipid profile, and hematology. Key values include fasting blood glucose of 70-110 mg/dL, serum urea of 15-45 mg/dL, total serum protein of 6-8 g/dL, and total plasma cholesterol of 150-250 mg/dL. It also specifies normal packed cell volume ranges for males and females.

Carbohydrate Metabolism (Blood Glucose)

• Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG): 70 - 110 mg/dL (or mg%). (Note: Another slide
mentions 70 - 100 mg/dL)

• Random Blood Glucose: Less than 140 mg/dL.

• Renal Threshold for Glucose: 180 mg/dL.

• 2-Hour Postprandial Glucose (in normal OGTT): Should return to fasting level
(Less than 140 mg/dL).

2. Renal Profile (Urea & Uric Acid)

• Serum Urea: 15 - 45 mg/dL (or mg%).

• Urine Urea (24-hour output): 20 - 40 g/day.

• Serum Uric Acid (Males): 3 - 7 mg/dL.

• Serum Uric Acid (Females): 2.6 - 6 mg/dL.

3. Total Serum Proteins & Fractions

• Total Serum Protein: 6 - 8 g/dL.

• Serum Albumin: 3 - 4 g/dL (Represents ~50-60% of total proteins).

• Serum Globulin: Usually calculated as Total Protein - Albumin (Normal ranges

mentioned in cases are around 2.0 - 3.5 g/dL).

• A/G Ratio (Albumin/Globulin Ratio): 2:1 (Must be > 1).

4. Lipid Profile (Cholesterol & Triglycerides)

• Total Plasma Cholesterol: 150 - 250 mg/dL (Average is ~200 mg/dL). Favourable
prognosis is < 200 mg/dL.

• Serum Triglycerides (TAG): Up to 160 mg/dL.

• HDL-Cholesterol (Males): 35 - 60 mg/dL (Favourable is > 55 mg/dL).

• HDL-Cholesterol (Females): 45 - 75 mg/dL (Favourable is > 65 mg/dL).

• LDL-Cholesterol: Up to 100 mg/dL (Favourable is < 150 mg/dL).

• HDL Risk Factor (Total Cholesterol / HDL): Favourable is < 3.9.

5. Hematology (Packed Cell Volume / Hematocrit)

M.M
• General PCV (Hematocrit) Range: 35% - 55%.

• Normal PCV for Males: 42% - 52%.

• Normal PCV for Females: 37% - 47%.
