Some people say that computers can translate
languages, so children need not study foreign
languages anymore. To what extent do you agree
or disagree?

In the modern world, it is undeniable that computer-based
translation
tools have become increasingly advanced and widely used. Some
people argue that because of these technologies,
children
no longer need to learn foreign languages.
Although
some may agree with
this
view, I am opposed to it
due to
several reasons, which will be examined in
this
essay. One of the most apparent reasons is that learning a foreign
language
provides benefits beyond simple
translation
. To illustrate,
language
study helps
children
develop memory, concentration, problem-solving ability, and
cultural awareness.
For instance
, students who learn another
language
often become more open-minded because they are exposed to
different customs, expressions, and ways of thinking.
In addition
, being able to communicate directly with people from other
countries can build confidence and create stronger relationships
than relying only on a device.
This
is especially important in real-life situations
such
as studying abroad, travelling, or working with international
colleagues. Another point that should not be overlooked is that
translation
technology is not always accurate or suitable for every situation. To
clarify, automated systems may struggle with idioms, humour,
emotions, and cultural meanings.
For example
, a computer may translate individual words correctly but still fail to
express the intended tone of a conversation.
Furthermore
, relying completely on technology may make
children
passive learners and reduce their ability to communicate
independently. If a device has no internet connection or produces an
incorrect
translation
,
they
may face difficulty understanding or responding appropriately. To
recapitulate, it is evident that
while
computer
translation
offers convenience, learning foreign languages remains important
for cognitive development, cultural understanding, and independent
communication.
Therefore
, I firmly believe that
children
should continue to study foreign languages, as technology should
support
language
learning rather than replace it.

coherence and cohesion

clear conclusion.
Include an introduction and conclusion
A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than
most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your
IELTS essay.
The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This
is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been
presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written
in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.
The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:
Summary
Restatement of thesis
Prediction or recommendation
Example:
To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to
properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability
of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea
of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After
thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of
the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the
positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be
substituted for technology.
Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:
In conclusion
To conclude
To summarize
Finally
In a nutshell
